The Aircraft Paint Prepper prepares aircraft surfaces for high-quality painting by performing cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming activities. This role ensures all surfaces meet industry standards and safety regulations before entering the paint process, supporting consistent, professional finishes on aircraft and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean aircraft surfaces thoroughly to remove contaminants and ensure proper paint adhesion.
• Sand aircraft surfaces to achieve the required profile and smoothness for painting.
• Mask aircraft structures and components accurately to protect non-painted areas and achieve clean paint lines.
• Apply primers and sealants to aircraft surfaces to promote adhesion and durability of the final paint finish.
• Inspect prepared surfaces for defects, imperfections, and contamination, and correct issues before painting.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures while working in aircraft hangars and paint booths.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including preparation steps, materials used, and any issues identified.
• Collaborate with painters and other team members to coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion of projects.
• Handle tools, sanding equipment, and paint preparation materials in accordance with company and industry standards.

• At least 2+ years of paint preparation experience.
• Proficiency in sanding techniques for paint prep applications.
• Proficiency in masking techniques to protect surfaces and achieve clean paint lines.
• Proficiency in priming techniques, including the application of primers and sealants.
• Ability to perform industrial paint prep tasks in a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting and preparing surfaces.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
• Capability to maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed and materials used.

• Aircraft paint preparation experience for at least two of the available positions.
• Automotive, heavy equipment, or industrial paint prep experience considered for the other positions.
• Experience working in paint booths or similar controlled environments.
• Familiarity with industrial painting processes and standards.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in an aircraft hangar and dedicated paint booth environment. The role involves regular use of sanding tools, masking materials, primers, sealants, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Work is hands-on and production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to industry standards while preparing aircraft and related equipment for painting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Guntersville, AL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
