Job Description:

As a Quality Technician you will play a critical role in helping us shape the future of space exploration. As part of our dedicated quality team, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the precision and safety of liquid rocket engine assembly and test, primarily supporting NASA’s Artemis program working with industry experts. Essential Functions:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand product requirements
  • Verify compliance to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, or other product definitions
  • Perform work to production planning (work instructions) and document all quality inspection results required by production planning
  • Conduct in-process inspections during assembly, pre-test, and post-test processes to identify defects or deviations
  • Monitor, inspect, and approve reworked products to ensure they meet original requirements
  • Conduct visual inspections on incoming and finished hardware to ensure the product meets required specifications and quality standards
  • Perform inspections utilizing precision measurement tools and equipment (such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Detect and document non-conforming conditions for any departure from the requirements of the contract, engineering drawing, specification, or other product definitions via the MES
  • Collaborate closely with a team of engineers and technicians to resolve issues and support continuous improvement activities
  • Travel to Kennedy Space Center to support RS-25 engine integration activities (1-3 weeks per trip, up to 2-3 times per year)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S+1
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, processes, and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
  • NDT Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) Level II Certification
  • Experience in aerospace or aviation manufacturing/maintenance or similar industry
  • Familiarity with production requirements of human-rated products (NASA Technical Requirements for Human-Rating or Airworthiness)
  • Familiarity with QMS requirements of AS9100 Aerospace Standard
  • Experience with RCCA problem-solving tools such as 5-Whys & Fishbone Diagrams
