Metal Bond Subassembler III -1st Shift  (Full Time)

Assists the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts & subassemblies following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.

Essential Job Functions

Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:

Assemble more complex and intricate parts such as cockpit sidewalls, upper entry door, wing tips, cabin armrest, M600 wing skins, cowls, glove skins, leading, Cherokee leading edges and cabin skins.

Support continuous improvement efforts to improve the teams performance including schedule delivery, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions.

Ability to and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.

Adhere, maintain, assist and train teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.

Perform duties of lower graded position within Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Related subassembler experience requirements:
    • Metal Bond Subassembler I: 1 year of experience
    • Metal Bond Subassembler II: 2 - 3 years of experience
    • Metal Bond Subassembler III: 3 - 4 years of experience
    • Senior Metal Bond Subassembler: 5 years of experience
  • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Use of hand and power tools as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions.

Physical Demands

  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below.

Working Conditions

  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.
