About this positionLoad Control Agents are responsible for load planning and weight and balance calculations, sometimes acting as local operations agents and assisting with cargo duties.
Level: As per the UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
Pay Rate: Starting at $21.50 per hour, in accordance with the UNIFOR Collective Agreement, or commensurate with experience. Employees are also eligible for a Northern Living Allowance of $5.14 per hour.
Reporting to: Manager, Cargo & Ramp
Duties and Responsibilities Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Complete aircraft weight and balance calculations ensuring procedures meet safety regulations and guidelines as required;
- Process and resolve operational problems as they arise;
- Process critical operational information in a timely manner;
- Process and resolve operational problems as they arise;
- Transmit and input information in a variety of ways air-to-ground radio, load planning software, hand-held radio, email, phone, fax, reservations system, etc.;
- Maintain accurate record keeping as required by various government agencies and Company polices;
- Provide support and effective handover to the other Load Control Agents;
- Ensure that all workplace issues, including barriers to high-level customer service, are brought to the attention of the Supervisor;
- Must have obtained the radio license from TSC;
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
- Strong mathematical aptitude;
- Knowledge of Sabre and Skyline is considered an asset;
- Previous load control experience is considered an asset;
- Minimum one year of operational experience in an airport and/or cargo environment;
- Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills;
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and multi-task;
- Ability to work flexible hours;
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication;
- Knowledge of WHIMIS and Dangerous Goods Transportation guidelines and procedures considered an asset;
- A strong background in PC skills;
- Ability to obtain Restricted Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate is required;
- Successful completion of Canadian North Load Control Training is required;
- Ability to communicate in Inuktitut is a definite asset; and
- Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.

Please note: This job entails irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift work. Shift schedules will be bid in order of seniority. As a result, we cannot provide you with a schedule around your current job, school schedule, activities, etc. You are however able to shift trade with your colleagues- but you are responsible for the shifts that you are scheduled.
