Position Overview:

The delivery of Human Resources services is performed by Human Resources service teams consisting of an HR Generalist and an HR Coordinator who are responsible to provide a comprehensive single point of contact for designated client groups.
The HR Generalist shall act as service team lead. Both roles are to be fully familiar with all HR services and issues within the client groups to allow for uninterrupted service in event of absence of either team member.

What You Will Do:
  • Maintain confidential, accurate and current employee files and information and ensure that all communication is in accordance with current approved templates, collective agreements and legislation. Is responsible for all basic HR administration and the processing of employee change forms
  • Assist client groups with the implementation of employee focused Company programs such as Employee Engagement Survey, Performance Review Process, Attendance Management Program
  • Ensure client groups are following current HR policy and procedures in their dealings with employees including probationary review, performance management, leaves of absence etc.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to client group managers and supervisors on issues involving basic employee and labour relations, performance management, discipline, conflict resolution, attendance management, etc
  • Interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures including legislation and collective agreements
  • Initiate appropriate recruitment activities in response to approved vacancies, including; liaising with hiring managers to assess requirements, drafting of job postings, recruitment advertising, candidate pre-screenings, candidate contact, interview schedules, final selection process, reference and security checks
  • Prepare offer letters and initiation on on-boarding process for new employees
  • Assist HR Generalist with investigative meetings by taking accurate, detailed meeting minutes
  • Assist HR Generalist with the administration of Step 1 grievances
  • Update discipline, leave and grievance trackers in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the Company’s third party benefit provider in the administration of all short-term disability claims in consultation with the HR Generalist
  • All other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management (undergraduate degree/diploma with concentration in HR)
  • Experience working in a unionized environment, in an HR role, would be considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of recruitment and selection techniques and tools
  • Working knowledge of human resources principles and practices including the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights and Employment Equity legislation
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office software
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through with projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build trusting working relationships with members of the HR team and client groups through open and honest communication and follow through on commitments. Must be an effective team player who adds complementary skills and contributes valuable ideas, opinions, and feedback
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience dealing with sensitive or difficult issues and the ability to remain objective
  • Experience with conflict resolution and the ability to address complaints & problems quickly and effectively promoting fair outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances
