Job Description:
A vacancy for the Head of the Engineering Domain “Simulation” has arisen withing Airbus Defence and Space Air Power Engineering in Manching.
The successful applicant will join the Flight and Integration Test Centre of Competence. The Head of Domain is leading a team of around 230 employees located in Manching and Getafe.
The Simulation domain provides engineering simulation services throughout the life cycle of Airbus DS products to support their definition, development, verification, validation and safe in-service operation.
It also designs, develops, operates and maintains high end engineering simulation facilities to support the development and in-service phase of our products. In addition, the domain develops training simulators or components by reusing and extending skills, competences, simulation assets and models developed & acquired during development.
The domain is a driver for model-based development, Virtual Engineering and digital E2E data continuity by defining, promoting and providing respective simulation technology related solutions.
Main Responsibilities:
The Head of the Domain is responsible to lead, steer and manage all activities in the Domain; ensuring that the technical deliverables of the Domain are provided on-time, on-cost and on-quality
She/He is responsible for maintaining and developing the technical skills and competencies of the staff in the Simulations Domain
The Head of the Domain gets the delegated Technical Authority of the Airbus Defence & Space Design Organisation for the scope of Simulation under the domain responsibility
The person will contribute to and support CoC Key Strategic Initiatives
Leadership, inspiration and development of team members and evolution of ways of working
Represent the domain towards all internal and external stakeholders
Required skills and qualifications
Degree in Engineering (or equivalent field)
You have a sound and extensive work experience (>10 years) in technical management, systems engineering or architectural design; preferably for Simulation
You are able to lead and to motivate people across programs, disciplines and functions. Experience Leading (remote) teams is desired
You have good knowledge of the state-of-the-art Simulation tools and methodologies (incl. agile, scrum, etc.) for development and training applications
You have strong networking and communication skills (including public speaking) and the ability to interact with multiple interfaces whatever the hierarchical level is. Establish and sustain long-lasting efficient collaboration
You have a disruptive way of thinking and working, open minded, flexible, able to work across silos and analytical mindset
Good knowledge of the Airbus Defence and Space organization, processes, goals and values is beneficial
You speak English to negotiation level and it is a plus, if you speak German or Spanish as well
This role will involve travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly
