Job Title: Weld Clean-up / Precision Finisher
Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Glendale specializes in the manufacturing of precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings. We have an opportunity to become part of an elite aerospace weld repair shop for the repair of aluminum and magnesium sand castings. The precision finishers are responsible for removing, cleaning, and reconfiguring welded castings to match required surface finishes, dimensions, and tolerances.
Essential Responsibilities
- Receive work assignments from group leader.
- Uses pneumatic powered tools to grind and polish castings to required shapes and surface finish.
- Uses calipers, templates, straight edges, and gauges.
- Blues and paints castings for scribing using templates to maintain configuration.
- Prepares castings for welding.
- Cleans and shapes castings after welding.
- Interprets X-Ray film to blend/remove defects.
- Remove defects as indicated on x-ray film as required
- Alternates between cleanup & dig out roles to accommodate immediate demand
- Notifies department lead and/or group leader of job irregularities, faulty equipment, or material.
- Maintains a clean and organized work station per company 6S criteria.
- Observes plant safety rules and regulations.
Position Requirements
- Minimum five years in manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Experienced with pneumatic tools, die grinders, cutters, and abrasives.
- Ability to use height gages, micrometers, calipers, etc., to measure, check and correlate information with specifications.
- Must be able to deadlift 50lbs with appropriate technique.
- Must be able to work on feet for 8+ hours/day
- Must be able/willing to work overtime, including Saturdays, when/if needed.
- Must be able to speak and comprehend English (bilingual in Spanish preferred)
