Conditioner Level 1: Under direct supervision, level one operators perform basic grinding operations including machine attending and basic inspection for Revert. Operate hand grinding tools to shape forged bars, open die preforms, or closed die forgings and remove defects. They will also possess a basic understanding of the different types of grinding tools and their setup and applications.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Obtain job assignments from supervisor or manager.
• Work safely in accordance to plant safety guidelines including cardinal rules of safety.
• Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
• Unload and load material.
• Perform daily inspection of equipment such as grinders, forklift, overhead cranes, etc.
• Compete production reports accurately and timely.
• Perform transactions in Quality Management System as applicable.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
• Perform daily housekeeping / 6S activities as required
• Performs other duties as requested by lead, supervisor or manager.
Required Skills:
• Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions.
• Basic use and interpretation of measuring equipment such as tape measure, micrometer, caliper, etc.
• Basic understanding of grinding functions.
• The ability to perform basic shop math, fractions, decimals.
• Ability to communicate effectively to team members, lead, supervisor, manager or others.
• The ability to operate forklift, overhead crane, pallet jack, and fixtures.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to government military contracts.
Experience & Education
• Minimal 0 to 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree
• GED or High School diploma
Working Conditions:
• Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
• Constant exposure to moderate noise
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to work any shift including overtime, weekends and holidays if scheduled.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
• Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing and pulling of materials.
• Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane and forklift.
• Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
• Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
• Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment including respirator.
• Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
• Visual acuity skills to operate powered industrial equipment to load and to unload parts into / onto equipment and to transport parts into other areas of the facility.
Additional Requirements:
• Must have completed 90-day introductory period.
• Must have been in current position for a minimum of six (6) months.
• Must be in good standing – no written or final level corrective actions.
