PCC Mason, located just north of Cincinnati, OH is an advanced manufacturing center of excellence for Precision Castparts Corporation&39;s Fasteners Division focused on developing innovative production capabilities used in the manufacturing of aerospace fasteners.

The Chemical Processing Technician, will be responsible for setting, operating, troubleshooting, and tending to equipment such as annealing (solution) & vacuum (aging) furnaces and other chemical processes such as salt bath, anodize and chemical/acid etching processes. Applicants should be capable of working in a safe manner with proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) with hazardous materials such as acids, molten salt, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work safely by adhering to relevant EH&S procedures & proper use of PPE.
  • Operate salt bath for cleaning of forged parts and transfer parts to heat treat processes.
  • Monitor chemical levels & specifications in highly automated equipment and replenish as necessary.
  • Monitor furnace control charts, inert gas, and other atmospheric conditions for heat treatment processes.
  • Maintain furnace integrity according to AMS specifications and perform periodic burnouts and thermocouple changeovers.
  • Perform System Accuracy Test (SAT) on specified intervals and maintain records for audits.
  • Neutralize chemical waste for safe disposal after consumption.
  • Maintain a clean and compliant chemical and wastewater area.
  • Schedule chemical waste disposal as necessary.
  • Maintain chemistry, replace & replenish chemicals in part washers, lubrication systems (Cetyl Coating), etc as per specified intervals.
  • Complete preventive maintenance routines for equipment assigned.
  • Assist with raw material receiving, booking & shipment of finished products as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Skills

  • Ability to multitask & keep multiple processes functional concurrently to specifications.
  • Familiarity with shop floor ERP systems to correctly interpret work orders.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification required.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience working with chemical and/or heat treat equipment & processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time – up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 35 pounds.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment.
  • Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
