Job SummaryThe Cash Application Clerk is responsible for the timely and accurate listing and posting on account from all revenue streams. Incoming receipts are in the form of cheques, credit card payments, lockbox transactions, wire transactions, EFT, wire and internally e-transfers. The Cash Applicator is responsible for verifying the validity of these payments, with respect to date, payee, currency, and amount owing to NAV CANADA. The Cash Applicator is responsible for the timely and accurate deposit of funds to Nav CANADA’s bank on a daily/bi-weekly for cheques basis. Critical to the whole process is the accurate coding of cash receipts. The Cash Application Clerk assists other Accounts Receivable staff in filing, inquiries and other duties as required.

Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for dealing with large volume of receipts from different revenue streams and large sums of invoices.
- Responsible for the accurate preparation of the Cash Applications and Deposits to the Bank, critical to the whole process is the accurate coding of cash receipts.
- Ensures all cheques received are opened and sorted into CDN and USD amounts from smallest to largest dollar amount and then deposited through RBC Cheque Pro online portal on a bi -weekly basis with visits in office (hybrid work environment)
- Ensure daily integration of TD LOCKBOX and RBC Online is accessed each morning, make corrections to file as necessary.
- Assists the Accounts Receivable staff in dealing with customer inquiries.
- Assists internal departments with posting of ad hoc payments and payments related discrepancies.
Education
- Completion of post-secondary school education in accounting or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience:
- ERP financial systems utilizing the Accounts Receivable Cash application modules.
- Ability to conduct research to ensure payments are properly allocated to customer accounts.
- Ensure the administration of financial process of cash application is following and in compliance with internal control processes.
Knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards - IFRS
- Knowledge of Lockbox Transmission File policies and procedures for integrations and posting to accounts.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial tax rates and what items are taxable.
- Detailed knowledge on how to process credit card payments through point of sale through various banks.
- Strong knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the Accounts Receivable, Customer Service and Billing departments.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Workday Financial System in the cash application module
- Knowledge of Moneris payment website through point of sale.

Working Conditions:
- This position is based at Ottawa Head Office but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
