Cargo Handler

Job Description

As a Cargo Handler, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe handling of cargo. This role involves a variety of tasks including loading, unloading, sorting, and documenting cargo, operating equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Shift

3:30am - 10am Monday - Friday

Hours can vary by 1-3 hours

Can include some weekends

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload cargo from aircraft, trucks, and other vehicles.
• Sort, stack, and organize cargo in warehouses and storage areas.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other cargo handling equipment.
• Ensure accurate documentation of cargo, including weight, dimensions, and contents.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Work closely with other team members to ensure timely and efficient cargo handling operations.
• Perform air marshalling, involving visual communication between ground personnel and pilots.

• Ability to lift 30-70 lbs.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
• Capacity to handle a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand on feet all day.

• Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Experience with warehouse inventory, sorting, loading, packaging, and general labor tasks.
• Ability to unpack and repack cargo containers for distribution and loading onto planes.
• Ability to assemble and break down boxes.
• Ability to pass TSA/Homeland Security check and a non-DOT drug screen.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate controlled warehouse at the airport. You will be working in a fast-paced environment that requires physical stamina, as you will be standing on your feet all day and lifting heavy objects. Steel-toed boots are required for safety. The work involves both indoor and outdoor activities, often in various weather conditions. Shifts are available both in the early morning and late evening, with opportunities for overtime.
