Ensure the efficient day to day cargo operations in the station / shift including taking appropriate action and making timely decisions in conjunction with the Cargo Manager / Cargo Officer, cargo team, ground handler and HQ ensuring adherence to EK SkyCargo procedures and regulatory compliance requirements. Provide existing and potential customers with a superior and consistent quality service, both directly and in conjunction with GHA.



Accountabilities




  • Plan, organise and co-ordinate the operational activities to ensure optimal efficiencies and productivity, delegating responsibilities to and controlling subordinate staff and GHA/third party contractors as appropriate.

  • Monitor and oversee the service provided by GHA to ensure it is in line with EK standards, and where there are shortcomings, to address these appropriately and in a timely manner. Where appropriate, make recommendations and implement process improvement with GHA. Ensure compliance of all EK safety and regulatory procedures. Conduct regular ramp and warehouse audit walks in conjunction with the GHA.

  • On the shift oversee GHA ramp activities on both inbound and outbound flights to ensure load reconciliation as per the CPM / GOI, and correct handling of shipments requiring special attention – AVI / HUM / PER / VAL etc. Oversight of all flight planning duties to ensure both optimum utilisation of capacity and all transit and destination requirements are adhered to for special cargo.

  • Resolve problems arising such as delays, disruptions, cargo mishandling and transfer cargo in order to minimise cargo off loadings and maximise utilisation of capacity available.

  • Review, collate and compile cargo documentation, and ensure accurate data entry for cargo uplifted on flights in accordance with local regulations and company policies. Oversee timely and accurate submission of UWS to Load Control.

  • Ensure accurate completion of all post flight activities including dispatch messaging, forwarding documentation and completion of station file. Where required, take appropriate action for any irregularities/ discrepancies

  • Investigate and respond to queries, complaints and claims received from internal and external customers in an efficient and timely manner. Maintain station mailing list and arrange for market and stake holder communications via broadcasts for schedule changes etc. – as directed by CM.

  • Accurately rate and verify shipment charges in accordance with correct product tariff, contract or adhoc rates. Complete CASS reconciliation to ensure revenue accuracy and maintain revenue reporting records. Update and maintain Cargo Systems in order to provide the requisite customer service information, including rate filing and facilitate accurate revenue accounting.

  • Station Cargo Operations Process Owner (COPO) responsibilities. Ensure all critical safety checkpoints are followed to meet strict regulatory standards at all points of handling.

  • Maintain station training records, regulatory manuals, conduct regular station audits, review GHA training records, equipment safety checks and cargo security compliance. Receive, interpret and distribute EK procedural updates (CON, COB, COAs) and maintaining distribution records.



Supervisory accountabilities:




  • Motivate, train and give feedback to staff to ensure all tasks are completed on time and to ensure high standard of service is maintained.

  • Undertake various administration functions including ULD Control, rostering of staff, completion of performance appraisals, reordering of stationery as required.

  • Act as the senior in charge where no Cargo Manager / Cargo officer is on duty


Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience



  • Year 12 Certificate or equivalent

  • Significant experience at a supervisory level in either Freight-Forwarding, Air Cargo Terminal Operations, Logistics or Air-Cargo (Airline)

  • Thorough working knowledge of cargo handling procedures, customs formalities and airline requirements

  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations

  • Knowledge of Weight & Balance procedures and Live Animal Regulations

  • Proven ability to lead a team with good interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word

  • Fluent in written and spoken English is essential


This position is required to work a rotating shift roster, which includes weekends, public holidays and early morning/night shifts. Must have the legal right to work and live in Australia unrestricted. The company will not provide or assist with obtaining work permits.
