Automotive Instructor/ Diagnostician- Part-Time / On-Call Contingent

V2X Professional Services (VPS) is hiring End of Line Automotive Plant Instructor(s) specializing in vehicle electric systems who will be responsible for analysis, research, development and delivery of manufacturing processes and technical launch training. On-site support to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vehicle assembly plants in the US, Canada and Mexico. Also responsible for diagnosing electrical system circuit faults and repairing electrical wiring to OEM standards, diagnosing problems with all vehicle electrical systems, repairing damaged electrical parts, and maintaining electrical repair equip



Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekday and some weekend on-site vehicle repair or repair person mentoring/coaching at an OEM vehicle assembly facility
  • Diagnose electrical issues and execute a course of action
    • Provide on-site leadership with estimated time for repairs
    • Repair and/or replace faulty wiring, connectors, or electrical systems
    • Install new vehicle wiring systems per OEM standards
    • Service of electrical automotive parts
    • Service and repair electrical systems on new OEM vehicles
    • Complete job reports and processing paperwork
    • Instruct and guide other repair personnel to improve their understanding of vehicle electrical systems and subsystems
    • Present and demonstrate efficient and effective methods of diagnosing and correcting vehicle electrical systems and sub-system deficiencies
    • Conduct root cause analysis to accurately identify the cause(s) of vehicle deficiencies
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for other repair personnel by providing interpretation of vehicle electrical system architectures and schematics
    • Communicate and share lessons learned with site leadership and other repair personnel on a timely basis
    • Travel required (as needed) to work sites in other locations


Required Skills

  • Minimum five years experience as an automotive technician, automotive instructor and/or manufacturing instructor, to include,

  • One year experience with OEM or an aftermarket / independent repair facility

  • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspective

  • Development of professional training materials using pre-launch documents

  • Effectively conduct one-on-one and group presentations

  • Must have experience with and ability to:

  • Accurately reading and interpreting tools such as a digital multimeter, OEM diagnostic scan tool, and other automotive related diagnostic test equipment

  • Interpreting early engineering level electrical schematic diagrams

  • Reading OEM supplier electrical harness prints

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently without supervision

  • Extensive travel flexibility; upward of 75 travel, depending upon launch

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Valid Passport



Desired Skills

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in Electrical is highly desired

  • Demonstrated presentation skills delivering process and technical training

  • Automotive technical assistance center



Required Education

  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, engineering or other related discipline

  • High school diploma with eight years experience as an automotive instructional designer, training developer, automotive instructor and/or manufacturing instructor may be considered in lieu of an Associates Degree
