Position Overview:
Join STS Technical Services as an Amphibious Combat Vehicle Mechanic in Camp Pendleton, California, and play a crucial role in ensuring the readiness and efficiency of our vehicle fleet. Your responsibilities will include vehicle preparation for testing, meticulous maintenance, effective troubleshooting, root cause analysis, parts identification, and timely repairs. The primary objective is to uphold operational continuity while minimizing disruptions to test operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with Field Service Representatives (FSR) regarding vehicle diagnosis, repair timelines, required parts, and other technical observations.
- Collaborate seamlessly within a team environment, demonstrating the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Project a positive image of both oneself and the company’s products and services.
- Adapt communication style to effectively engage with diverse customers and cultures.
- Demonstrate courtesy and tact in all interactions, facilitating the smooth exchange of information within the department and project team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in military maintenance systems across all repair levels.
- Familiarity with relevant technical manuals and engineering data.
- Competency in utilizing a wide range of hand tools, shop tools, precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, depth gauges), and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
- Comprehensive understanding of system troubleshooting techniques.
- Demonstrated experience with power tools, lifting devices, and support equipment, prioritizing safety protocols.
- Two (2) years’ experience as an Amphibious Combat Vehicle Field Service Representative (FSR), or four years in a related military MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) such as 2141, 2147, 2149, or 2110, with training in ACV operation and maintenance.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience within a Marine Expeditionary Unit.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant Associate’s degree, or military school training.
- Additional four years of work experience in the mechanical/electrical/electronic field of relevant military products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three to four years of experience with amphibious Combat Vehicles.
- Three to four years of experience with Cursor 16 Engine or FIAT Powertrains training.
- Three to four years of experience with Allison 4800 series or Allison Certification.
- Two to three years of experience in previously held MOS 2141, 2147, or 3521.
