Position Summary:

The highest level for a seasoned field sales position. Responsible for maintaining / increasing order and sales volume and margin with existing and new customer accounts while pro-actively leading and supporting the Direct Sales Team to meet their goals, and ultimately the financial and profitability goals for the business & division. Works effectively with cross functional team members to meet customer needs.  Actively supports the corporations Win Strategy. This role is a direct report to the Division Sales Manager.

Responsibilities

Sales Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Individual Database Ownership of financial, product, and customer experience metrics to meet or exceed targets. Strong presentation skills. Leads by example. Engaged in High Performance Teams. 
  • Provides day-to-day guidance to sales team members. Focus on coaching, motivating, and developing team members to achieve individual and collective sales goals. Ensures work, process, and policy instructions are followed, i.e. pricing guidelines, contract review, etc. Support Activities include but are not limited to travel process, account – industry – product strategies, Sales forecast, CRM accuracy, order win/loss tracking, and bag test reports. Team members are not direct reports. 
  • Coaching on sales techniques: Work one-on-one with team members to improve their selling skills, providing feedback and guidance on how to overcome common obstacles.
  • Participating in sales calls: Join sales team members on calls to observe their techniques, provide real-time feedback, and help them close deals. 
  • Motivating team members: As a leader, inspire and motivate the sales team to meet their targets, celebrate their successes, and help them overcome setbacks. 
  • Promoting collaboration within team and cross functional departments: Foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration, encouraging Sales team members to ask questions, share knowledge, best practices, and resources. Understands and communicates competitive, industry, and spanet trends to team and business. 
  • Team metrics: Works with Management to monitor team performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify skill gaps: Assess the strengths and weaknesses of each Sales team member, providing training and development opportunities to fill gaps and improve overall performance. Peer Training Schedule includes leading of trainings and giving others the opportunities to lead trainings valuable to the team and/or customers.
  • Backs up Manager to Lead meetings: i.e. Business Unit Sales and Staff meetings. Backs up team members as required. 
  • Participates, Supports, and Coordinates with MarCom on customer campaigns, tradeshows, seminars, & creates and keep literature updated.  Includes but not limited to being a member of in-house seminar team responsible for planning and execution of in-house seminars. Industry Trade Organization/Participation lead for primary industries.

Sales Team Lead Skills:

  • In-depth product & industry application knowledge for dry dust collection aka baghouse filtration and equipment: Deep understanding of BHA branded products and services, features, and applications. Technical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot customer issues within the industries served. Main industries include but are not limited to Cement, Carbon Black, Power Generation, Metals, & Process.  
  • Advanced sales techniques: Excels in advanced sales techniques, such as listening, negotiation, objection handling, setting customer expectations, and closing deals.
  • Time management and organization: Effective time management and organization are crucial to balancing individual contributor and leadership responsibilities.
  • Effective communication: Excellent communicator, able to articulate goals, provide feedback, and coach team members.
  • Conflict resolution: Resolve conflicts within the team and with customers. Maintains a professional and positive attitude while addressing negativity quickly. 
  • Performance coaching: Coach team members to improve their performance, strategize on accounts/industries/products and reach their goals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ Sales or Heavy industrial manufacturing engineer experience
  • High level of Industry & Technical Application Knowledge
  • Communicate highly effectively both oral and written
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within all levels of an organization internally and externally, i.e. purchasing to C-level contacts
  • Highly Proficient in CRM, Power BI or equivalent, & Microsoft suite software products. 
  • Must be able to travel overnight a minimum of 30. Will vary and may increase based on customer and business needs
  • Demonstrates ability to lead team and sustain orders and sales growth
  • Proven track record of exceeds plus experience
  • Available for weekend, off hour, and holiday on call assignments

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of Sales experience with at least 5 years in a leadership support role
  • 5+ years’ experience in managing projects
