Job Description:

The Software Configuration Manager is responsible for overseeing the configuration, integration, and maintenance of application and embedded software products throughout their lifecycle. This role ensures that software changes are systematically managed, documented, and deployed efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software configuration management (SCM) practices, tools, and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement software configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain version control systems, including branching, merging, and labeling.
  • Oversee the build and release processes, ensuring that software builds are reliable and reproducible.
  • Coordinate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth software deployment and integration.
  • Monitor and audit software configurations to ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Maintain and improve automated build and deployment pipelines.
  • Track and report on configuration management metrics and KPIs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve configuration-related issues.
  • Provide training and support to team members on SCM tools and best practices.
  • Ensure proper documentation of configuration management activities and software artifacts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Software Configuration Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Rhodecode, Git, Subversion, Perforce).
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Configuration Management (e.g., CMII, ITIL).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
