Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Operations Strategy reports to the Director, Operations Strategy and Engineering and is responsible for JetBlue’s overall operations analytics strategy to deliver credible insight, predictive modelling, and informed recommendations for both long-term planning and “day-of” operations.  A key role of the team is to support a balance of operability and profitability in the development of JetBlue’s flight schedule and operational resources.  The Senior Manager is the primary point of contact across senior company leadership with respect to on-time performance analysis.

 

The Senior Manager oversees corporate data, operations analysis, regulatory reporting, dashboard development and competitive strategy in support of corporate initiatives and operations leadership decision-making.  The Senior Manager also enjoys interacting daily with people at different levels in the organization, influencing others without authority and is an effective leader whose personal values match JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.
 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Communicate a unified story concerning the status of our operation and underlying drivers of performance
  • Conduct strategic as well as operational reliability impact analysis in support of corporate initiatives
  • Investigate and determine root causes of operational events and failures
  • Produce briefings for Senior Leadership and Board of Directors on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Analyze proposed and current flight schedules to highlight operations reliability risks and propose mitigating strategies
  • Forecast operational performance metrics used for goal setting, financial and resource planning, and long-range models
  • Support the Commercial, Finance and People Teams with requested data and analysis for decision making
  • Review and assess regulatory data/reporting policy creation and revisions
  • Prepare regulatory reports and data files per government requirement to ensure corporate consistency and data integrity
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, goal achievement
  • All other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with the combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Six (6) years of operations planning, data analysis, predictive modeling and/or decision support experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in supervisory or managerial capacity, managing at least four direct or indirect reports
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, SQL language, and data structure knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of data analysis or decision support experience in aviation or aerospace industries
  • Advanced degree in Operations Management, Transportation Planning or Business Administration
  • Proficiency in Python, R or similar high-level programming language
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)
  • Thorough understanding of the Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to scheduled domestic and international air carrier operations


Crewmember Expectations

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $111,400.00 and $156,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
