The role: You will work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our Engineers working on our fleet of aircraft and ensuring that we operate in the most balanced way possible. Put simply, you’ll help ensure the safety of our Engineers, who in turn keep millions of passengers safe in the air.
What you’ll do: - Leads on health, safety and environment matters on behalf of British Airways with internal business areas and external suppliers, OEMs, customers and regulatory bodies
- Develop procedures and guidance for Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory changes ensuring safe and compliant practices and procedures are developed and implemented.
- Evaluates manufacturer and industry technical data to develop and implement regulatory and manufacturer requirements, recommendations and industry best practices through engagement with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Provides technical guidance on practical application of regulations, specifically: COSHH, for LEV systems, workplace exposure limits, PPE specifications
- Reports, presents and communicates operational safety and environmental performance to senior stakeholders, suggesting appropriate actions to be taken.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Engineering managers, colleagues, trade unions, Safety Representatives, BA occupational health services and other key collaborators.
What you’ll bring to British Airways: - Excellent interpersonal skills, written oral and presentation skills
- Proven leadership and communication skills at all levels within the business
- Technical application of HSE regulations, including COSHH, DSEAR, HAVS, IRR
Your experience: - NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent level 6 qualification (Essential)
- IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent level 5 qualification, Engineering based degree (Essential)
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH, IEMA) (Essential)
- Part 147 Level 1 – Aircraft General Familiarisation (Desirable)
