United Airlines’ Customer Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create services and applications across key airline functionalities such as Booking, Check-in, Payment, Reservation systems and Operational Systems to help support the commercial and digital Channels of United.
The Senior developer will play a pivotal role in advancing predictive and prescriptive analytics for United’s digital channels — including website and mobile app. The role focuses on uncovering patterns, detecting anomalies, and driving actionable insights to improve customer experience, product performance, and personalization initiatives.
This position requires deep expertise in data science, strong collaboration across global teams, and the ability to translate analytical findings into strategic recommendations for leadership.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams to identify and prioritize high-impact predictive and anomaly detection use cases across digital journeys
• Analyze large-scale digital data to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies, improving both customer experience and business performance.
• Build, test, deploy, and monitor machine learning models to predict and prevent issues in digital flows, optimize conversion rates, and enhance engagement.
• Work extensively with Python, PowerBI and SQL to design analytical solutions, automate workflows, and maintain data quality.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and analytical data products to democratize insights across teams.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support experimentation and A/B testing, ensuring statistically sound methodologies and actionable outcomes.
• Mentor junior team members in modeling, feature engineering, and data storytelling best practices.
• Collaborate with cloud data engineering teams (AWS Redshift, Databricks) to operationalize models and ensure scalable deployments.

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 6–8 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
• Deep understanding of data structures, relationships, and transformation logic.
• Strong proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels) and experience building production-ready ML models.
• Advanced SQL skills for complex querying, data extraction, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with statistical modeling, feature engineering, and testing.
• Familiarity with all parts of the data ecosystem — acquisition, storage, management, visualization, and model monitoring.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex results to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to propose novel modeling approaches based on the problem being solved.
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
• Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, etc.).
• Prior experience leading data science projects or mentoring team members.
• Aviation or travel industry experience, with an understanding of digital user journeys (booking, check-in, NPS, ancillary sales).
• Strong experience with anomaly detection, imbalanced classification, and time-series forecasting.
• Exposure to event analytics platforms (Adobe Analytics, GA4, Mixpanel) and cloud-based analytics environments (AWS, Databricks).
• Experience supporting or designing A/B/n experiments and understanding causal inference principles.
• Proven ability to quickly learn new data sources, domain-specific terminologies, and complex systems.
