Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the quality team focused on development and manufacture of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine components. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead establishment of site Management System in accordance with AS9100D standard and P&W Level 1 Procedures.
  • Sets objectives for the quality team and maintains group metrics.
  • Oversees quality initiatives to assist internal staff, suppliers, customers, and partners with initiatives to improve processes and methods that adequately assure quality products.
  • Manages plans, guidelines, policies, and processes, to ensure the achievement of quality targets.
  • Manages implementation of organization projects and processes to ensure overall quality is continuously improving.
  • Manages the collection and analysis of quality information from multiple sources for use in developing long term quality strategy and programs.
  •  Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to their team.
  •  Influences others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.

 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)
  • 10+ years of Engineering experience, or 7+ years with an advanced degree.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Ceramic Matrix Composites or aerospace machining, forgings, castings, and gaging is desired.
  • Experience in precision, high volume component industries such as Aerospace, Medical Devices, Semiconductors, Automotive, etc.
  • Familiarity with assembly operations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and other problem-solving tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems (like SAP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software, and establishing/maintaining a quality management system.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to train the overall team on critical site procedures.
  • Experience supporting development of new processes and successful transition to production plus, a strong knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and LEAN.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships, exercise influence and lead small teams to deliver outstanding results and overcome challenges.
  • Knowledge and effective practice of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements including practice of aerospace quality practices like ISO9001 AS9100.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

This requisition is eligible for an employee referral award.  ALL eligibility requirements must be met to receive the referral award.

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
