45.00 - 56.14 per hour

Morson have an exciting opportunity to support one of our defence clients as a project manager focused on the the build and commissioning of a marine vehicle. This is a delivery focused role, with the front-end delivery of components your primary responsibility. You will lead a small team of 3 as well as coordinating engineering staff. We need a strong PM Skillset, with experience in defence, aerospace, marine, nuclear, engineering or construction.

The role is being offered on a 12-month contract to cover maternity leave. Because of the importance of the coordination of labour and components this role is mostly on site 5 days a week, however there will be some flexibility for personal/medical appointments. There is an opportunity for extension or permanent conversion and can offer the role at a rate 45.00 per hour PAYE or 56.14 per hour Umbrella.

Responsibilities

• Project Manager to project manage the build and commissioning of the forward end of the marine vehicle.
• Lead a small project team
• Deliver the planned scope to cost, time and schedule and will issue manage/ problem solve issues that will prevent this to find solutions and implement quickly
• Leading the Project Management Team on all aspects of Project Management
• Leading Project work stream meetings
• Gather data, update P6 Schedule and generate project progress reports on behalf of the project manager.
• Support the resolution of problems and issues to facilitate development of timely and effective solutions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to meet their requirements
• Development of project management plans (PMP/CAP) in line with role wave planning requirements
• Active risk and opportunity management, capture and assess and mitigate risks and opportunities for the work stream
• Critical Path/Schedule Management. Report on cost and schedule variances including critical path reports.
• Accountable for the budget, performance and results of the team.
• Ensures essential procedures are followed based on own knowledge of Project Management.
• Adapts and develops own project plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
• Exercises full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions.

Essential Requirements

• Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Project Management.
• University level education or professional qualifications gained through industry.
• Professional PM Qualification or years of practical experience gained through application of Project Management.
• Good understanding of the Business environment for own project and team.
• Recognised as a Project Management practitioner.
• Must be experienced within a project delivery environment – leading complex projects with multiple stakeholders.  
• APM Qualification or equivalent PM such as Prince2
• Able to analyse data and present findings, make recommendations and take actions based on data.
• Strong MS Office Skills

• P6 Experience
• Active Risk Manager
• SAP experience
• Expect to be an LCM Assessor or Chairperson.
• Experience of chairing meetings.
• Membership of relevant professional bodies.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
