Job Description SummaryGE are seeking an experienced Program Manager to join the Military Platforms Portfolio team, who will be responsible for the satisfaction of the customer and business objectives tied to the assigned program. This is a key role within our business and an exciting opportunity to build a strong and lasting relationship with the customer.

The role will manage several product families (Avionics & Power Distribution) in various stages of the product lifecycle (NPI/Sustaining/Aftermarket Support) across the Military Products Portfolio, working with internal functions (Sales, Engineering, Finance, Sourcing and Operations) and external customers to deliver the planning, monitoring, reporting and execution of multiple Customer contracts advocating for strong project governance on new product introduction, whilst driving performance improvements to maintain or improve the business case on our current production products.

Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities

The Program Manager is accountable for the satisfaction of Customer and Business objectives for Program(s) throughout the program lifecycle for Toll Gate 0 - 12 supporting the portfolio through the whole program lifecycle. In this role you will foster a “one team” approach to customer satisfaction.

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of the program(s), deliver all contract performance related activities, tied to customer(s) and program(s)

  • Drive performance including execution of program/project milestones, On-Time Delivery of all associated items and be the point of contact for management of unit deliverables. Remove barriers to execution

  • Responsible for adherence to contract service, operations, and performance specifications, as well as financial & technical metrics specific to contracts this will include management of the Level of Effort and associated NRE budgets

  • Support the Portfolio Bids and Programs from Tollgate 0 - 12 to maintain business/customer expectations through product management and program execution

  • Perform as interface between the customer, key suppliers, and the internal business team, managing the transfer of information and requests

  • Lead the Production team and ensure that contracted commitments are adequately supported

  • Work across the extended team to support cost out activities across all product types

  • Lead follow-on production proposals/contracts from receipt of the customer RFP to negotiation to order receipt and loading into appropriate business systems

  • Lead requested Production Readiness Assessments ensuring that the wider cross functional teams understand the accountability required during such reviews

  • Ensure that Tollgate reviews are completed to the highest standard

  • Assure timely resolution of issues, keep the customer advised of the progress of the program, and negotiate changes, variations, and solutions to issues

  • Strengthen the relationship with the Sustaining Engineering and Supply Chain (Operations) team to resolve issues, collaborate to improve product performance

  • Support development of financial plans including S&OP, short-term and long-term budgets

  • Leads team to define the sequence of activities necessary to deliver the scope of work within time and resource constraints; manages critical path and realigns priorities to balance stakeholders’ requirements. Determines personnel and other resources required. Works with resource owners to ensure effective allocation and utilization to deliver on the contract and meet or exceed financial objectives.

As a Program Manager within the Power Distribution and Controls business the candidate will support the wider business and will be instrumental in helping build a long-term relationship with the customer, the objective to develop further business and collaboration opportunities. Also, contribute to the business strategy, product, and technology plans.

  • Build a long-term relationship with the customer, understand the business structure, key stakeholders, decision makers and customer strategy

  • Help define our market and product strategy through relationship with customers and internal stakeholders

  • Contribute to product/program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks, and recommendations

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience to manage significant delivery commitments to critical customers, ideally in an aviation equipment environment 

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent 

  • Proven ability to manage significant customer relationships, expectations, and the necessary contractual requirements

  • Willingness and ability to travel 

  • Strong program management ability 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 

  • Passion for customer satisfaction

Desired Characteristics

  • Proven track record of managing challenging Engineering project schedules and budgets

  • Experience of Hoshin Kanri (HK) and Lean problem-solving techniques

  • Experience working with Oracle Business/Enterprise Systems

  • People and team leadership experience 

  • PMI accreditation (or equivalent) 

  • Ability to influence at a wide variety of levels across the business 

  • Experience at working with international customer base
