Job SummaryThe Technology Integration Manager is responsible for the identification of Technology requirements for Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems within the Flight Information Region (FIR) and for local adaptation, implementation, and maintenance of these operational systems.

The Technology Integration Manager is accountable for managing the Technology Requirements, project implementation, overseeing quality control program(s), training, certification, and human and financial resources.

In this role you will:

People Leadership

  • Leads a team of employees by creating a collaborative and positive work environment that provides its employees direction, coaching, mentorship, regular communication, development opportunities, and a commitment to a common vision and shared values.
  • Plans and manages the activities of employees, including the responsibility for hiring, resource allocation, prioritization, staff development, performance management, leave and overtime authorization, and disciplinary action, as required.
  • Ensures the teams provide agreed to service levels for performance, reliability, and availability of Air Navigation Services (ANS).

Relationship Management

  • Works effectively and in a highly collaborative fashion with local FIR management, peers in other FIR’s and national ANS technology to deliver services, influence change and build support for initiatives. Partners with key stakeholders and collaborates with other business units, users, and customers in order to proactively monitor and respond to customer needs and enhance efficiencies, and implement technologies to contribute to resource and service improvements

Technology Management

  • Ensures ATM technology equipment and materials are available, reliable, accurate and properly supported.
  • Manages the introduction of ANS   Technology and enhancements within the FIR by
    • Partners with National ANS Technology and local operations to develop clear requirements for new technology before pursuing local adaptations
    • Responsible for triaging MR requests within the FIR
    • Captures and represents FIR requirements for new ATM technology to National ANS Technology teams
    • Ensures the documentation and management of requirements for all local adaptations
    • Ensures and oversees the documentation the testing of new technology and adaptations to ensure systems are delivered that meet requirements and quality exit criteria.
    • Coordinate the introductions of Operational Readiness Deployments in the FIR in collaborations with National ANS Technology teams
    • Ensures local adaptations requirements are documented and approved.
  • Manages the Quality Control Program to ensure compliance to CARS (regulated by Transport Canada), International Standards Organization (ISO) and Integrated Quality Assurance (IQA) by participating in audits and site inspections, responding to audit reports, providing follow up, and assessing customer requirements
  • Identifies, develops, implements and continually refines strategies, metrics, practices and procedures for the management and reporting of technology and process performance.
  • Ensures that all activities of the function align to corporate policy, standards, procedures, guidelines, and directives
  • Establishes and conducts regular management review of goals, objectives, performance indicators and compliance with technology and initiatives
  • Partners with local FIR management and national ANS Technology to establish and maintain a roadmap of all ATM system changes occurring within the FIR
  • Participates in reviews of safety findings and ensures all safety related activities that require ATM system changes are planned and implemented according to committed schedules
  • Responsible for advancing ATM system standardization and transitioning the FIR to these standards which includes limiting the use of tactical/localized solutions that work against longer-term strategies

Project Delivery

  • Manages all aspects of ANS Technology projects within the FIR to ensure projects are successfully delivered while minimizing disruption to the day-to-day operation of the ANS.
  • Coordinates the gathering of all cost estimates and schedules for all activities associated with ATM projects within the FIR.
  • Adheres to all Safety Management and Risk Management Plans developed by National ANS Technology.
  • Provides status updates and input to support project reporting activities.  Coordinates with local FIR management and national ANS Technology to provide updates on the full scope of project activities occurring within the FIR including testing, deployment activities, training, operational readiness demonstration and stabilization.
  • Coordinates with local FIR management and national ANS Technology to plan and successfully deliver the portfolio of ATM system projects scheduled within the FIR in accordance with approved Scope, Schedule, Cost and Quality.
  • Partners with local FIR management to ensure adequate FIR resources are available to complete projects within agreed tolerances.

Financial Management

  • Coordinates with ANS Technology and local FIR management to plan and manage FIR budgets to support ATM system projects (Operational Shifts, Technology purchases, etc.)
  • Conducts monthly monitoring and reporting and Identifies business/financial efficiencies respecting the utilization of resources.
  • Ensures on-going staff requirements are met while balancing costs and manages operating and capital expenditures in line with applicable budgets and approvals, in accordance to stated company and departmental objectives and priorities.
     

What you bring:

  • Secondary school diploma and completion of an acceptable program in electronics technology normally acquired through completion of 2 to 3 years of post secondary study in this subject, or equivalent work experience.
  • Program or Project Management Certification is an asset
  • At least 5 years related experience in the industry.
  • Project and program management experience which includes organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, and contractors.
  • Experience managing budgeting and purchasing activities for technology procurement
  • Knowledge and background of ATM technology systems, operational policies, standards, procedures and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the operations of assigned airports and air traffic control facilities and of the inter-relationships with user agencies, such as airlines
  • Knowledge of Environmental Rules and Regulations regarding maintenance and removal of systems and equipment within the FIR
  • Must have thorough knowledge in all aspects of project management, and thorough knowledge in the operation to ensure there is minimum disruption in the day-to-day operation
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & safety rules and guidelines.
