Position Summary
The Manager Airports Duty is responsible for all facets of day-to-day operational tasks. The Manager also ensures quality, efficiency, and consistency in the execution and implementation of operational policies and standards. The Manager is responsible for operational targets and goals and serves as the primary point of contact for ground operations, ticket counter, and/or gate and oversees the supervisors and crewmembers in these areas.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure that quality of customer service is in-line with the high expectations customers have for JetBlue
- Manage the daily operations of a shift, including payroll issues, safety, staffing and scheduling
- Manage the operational performance by overseeing the daily flight operation to meet or exceed the established performance goals
- Monitor Transportation Security Administration (TSA) inline screening of baggage and ensures timely processing of baggage
- Resolve crewmember and customer issues
- Participate in ad hoc committees; respond to ad hoc requests to establish, develop or re-visit guidelines, policies and/or procedures as they pertain to the operation or the crewmembers
- Manages all business partner relationships and monitors performance and compliance
- Is accountable to senior management for ensuring the safety and security of ground handling operations
- Ensures that policies and procedures are conducted in accordance with applicable federal regulations and standards
- Takes a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
- Five (5) years of leadership, management, or aviation experience
- Three (3) years of prior Part 121 airline experience
- Able to travel and/or work flexible hours/shifts, including holidays and weekends
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must be able to use handheld radios and microphones to communicate with operations and make all terminal announcements
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Services and Company required software and application Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways insurance standards.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
- Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- For internal candidates, good standing in attendance performance and safety
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two (2) years of prior operational experience
Crewmember Expectations:
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice; be willing to travel as needed for training and company sponsored meetings
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
- Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
- The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.
Equipment:
- Computer and other office equipment
- Tug, push back tractor, forklift, deicing vehicle and other ground service equipment
Work Environment:
- Airport environment
- Subject to weather and elevated noise levels within airports
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- High noise area (jet engines)
- Shift work and irregular hours due to irregular operations
Physical Effort:
- Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and/or seventy to one hundred (70-100) pounds occasionally with the assistance of other people or tools and be in a position where bending, crouching, kneeling, etc. is needed.
