Position Summary
Position Summary:Responsible for championing and leading Lean initiatives at the Plant level by utilizing the companys WIN Strategy. Organizes associates in value streammapping and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste in all office, factory and support functions. Measures and reports progress on an on-going basisusing the Lean Journey Assessment, financial performance measures(ROS, RONA , etc) and Lean Report Card measures. Transfers the ownership of lean principlesto facility leadership.
Responsibilities
Scope/ Supervision and Interaction:Position reports to the Lean Manager. May also have reporting accountability to the Manufacturing Manager or Operations Manager. Ensures full Lean educationand implementation in all functions at the plant and / or and facility level to insure sustainability.Essential Functions:Leads and guides Lean initiatives within the Plant. Works Plant level management on Lean process projects using lean tools and metrics. Assists in thedevelopment of a Lean Strategy to be implemented plant-wide.The Plant Lean Leader will coordinate initiatives at the plant and trains associates how to continually eliminate waste.Ensures that steering committees and teams are established at the location and are implementing the Lean principles, techniques, and methodologies according toCorporate requirements. Technologies and methodologies include Value Steam Mapping, Cellular Manufacturing, Kanban Pull Systems, Quick Changeover, designfor lean, one piece flow, inventory reduction, site tracking centers etc.Makes implementation and results a top priority and regularly updates the Plant’s Lean implementation plan. Empowers every employee in the Plant throughpositive reinforcement of Lean. Make Lean the way we do things at Parker.Provides effective change management, leadership, and optimization in implementing the corporate WIN strategy across the Plant. Serves as a catalyst forsuccessful and sustained lean implementation.Provides high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting material control, product quality and customer service goals. Supports coaching andteaching of lean principles through the use of outside resources.Ensures on-going education of all employees at the Plant in Lean. Promotes a Continuous Learning environment.Position must understand the current culture by reviewing existing documentation of policies and procedures. Position is responsible for working with all operatingdisciplines by using value stream management to develop a master plan of meeting the goals of Lean.
Qualifications
Qualifications:Four year degree or equivalent.One to Three years of manufacturing technical experience demonstrating a self-starting and hands-on quality.A good understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Transformation (Mapping), Just-in-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five Ss, VisualManagement, etc.Has participated in numerous lean events in manufacturing, engineering and support areas.Has demonstrated the ability to articulate the desired state, purpose and value of lean and constantly moving in the direction of waste elimination.Good understanding of financial measurements and goals and has good analytical skills.Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment.Good presentation skills to effectively share the success and ideas of the Division.
