Job Description:

Purpose

The Lead Cabinet Maker is responsible for assigning, supervising, instructing, coordinating and approving the work for
all personnel assigned to their department. Cabinet makers perform functions related to the fabrication and finishing of aircraft cabinets and interior components for wood, honeycomb or composite assemblies using design and engineering drawings and specifications.
 


Functions 

ESSENTIAL  

  • Fabricates aircraft furniture and other composite, honeycomb or wood-surfaced sub assemblies using aircraft specifications, design and engineering drawings with a high level of safety, quality, detail and productivity. 
  • Assembles, pins and glues cabinet shells. Installs drawer-slides, hinges, latches and other hardware in sub-assemblies. 
  • Applies exterior surface materials such as laminates, veneers, and cap strips. 
  • Ensure the work area is kept to the highest standards of safety, compliant at all times, enforcing regulations and practices to avoid accidents. Ensure that good housekeeping practices are performed at all times. 
  • Perform the proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts and panels appropriately stored (including racks by aircraft). 
  • Perform documentation procedures and sign-offs in accordance with Repair Station Quality Manual and respective task requirements. 
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are correctly used and handled for both safety and to reduce breakages, wear and tear. Ensure tooling, GSE and ground equipment is returned to its proper storage area following use. 
  • Strive for continuous process improvements and increasing efficiencies in execution and delivery with safety as a priority. 
  • Maintain close and frequent communication with the Lead Technician or Supervisor, notifying him/her of progress and any road-blocks or threats to task accomplishment that could impact re-delivery. 
  • Deal with customers in a cordial, respectful and professional manner. 
  • Ensure the highest quality service, safety standards and performance, with the objective of exceeding customer satisfaction in the re-delivery of airworthy, reliable and clean aircraft, in a timely manner. 
  • Take part in any required training as determined by the company. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

  

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  

  • This position has no direct management/supervisory responsibilities. The Lead Upholsterer assigns tasks, provides technical guidance and monitors the accurate and timely completion of work. 

Qualifications 

REQUIRED 

  • High School Diploma/GED. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in the fabrication, repair and installation of custom interiors in the aviation, automotive or marine industries. 
  • Is required to be proficient in oral and written English. 
  • Holds a valid and current FAA Mechanic certificate with an Airframe rating, or meets qualification and experience requirements for the issuance of a Repairman’s Certificate by the repair station.   

DESIRED

  • 5+ years’ experience in aircraft VIP cabinet making. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics 

  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, structure repair manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes - Identify aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Aircraft Finish and Paint application processes applicable to high end VIP aircraft completions such as clear coat and paint working with composite and Aluminum panels 
  • Able to read, interpret and apply FAA approved or accepted data (i.e. IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM) proficiently. 
  • Proven ability to work alone and in a team environment. 
  • Effective decision-making skills.  
  • Dependability: personally responsible, completes work in a timely manner, and performs tasks accurately.  
  • Motivation: must maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy.  
  • Organization very detail oriented and always comes prepared

The work is performed in an office environment, aircraft hangar, at the departure gate or
