Job Overview

The Director of Supply Chain Management is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations of an organization. This role is crucial for ensuring that products or services are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time. The Director typically manages various functions such as procurement, logistics, inventory control, production planning, and supplier relationship management.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Outline a Global Supply Chain procurement, supplier management and production planning vision and strategy in support of Aerospace defense UAV and UAS product manufacturing.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for supply chain optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement.
  • Forecast demand, plan capacity, and manage supply chain risks.
  • Oversee procurement processes, including supplier selection, supplier quality, contract negotiation, and purchasing.
  • Direct support of logistics and warehousing in managing inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while minimizing costs.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between production, procurement, and sales teams to meet customer demands.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high quality, cost-effective materials and services.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, pricing, or delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the department.
  • Develop and manage the supply chain department’s budget.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains across the supply chain.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations related to supply chain, logistics, and trade including federal defense acquisition FAR and DFAR requirements
  • Identify and mitigate risks, such as supplier disruptions or changes in market conditions.
  • Implement supply chain management software and systems to improve visibility and decisionmaking.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Ability to establish Supplier Management scorecards and metrics including supplier grow, maintain, and exit action planning.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, inventory management, production scheduling and control
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and translate federal acquisition FAR and DFAR requirements into supplier statements of work and contracts
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make data-driven decisions.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of global supply chain trends and challenges.
  • Project management skills to handle complex logistics and procurement issues.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Directs and provides expert knowledge in the strategic function of the department.
  • Develops short and long-term people and organizational strategy in alignment with AEVEX goals and direction.

  • Proven ability to lead a team of procurement buyers, expeditors, production planning & control and Material Program Managers
  • Outline a Global Supply Chain procurement, supplier management and production planning vision and strategy in support of Aerospace defense UAV and UAS product manufacturing
  • Effective leader representing AEVEX Tactical Systems Integrated Operations Supply Chain in executive level interactions, communications and decision making
  • Strong executive presence and bias for action
  • Disciplined approached to Supply Chain processes and process control

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • 20+ Experience in Aerospace manufacturing operations; defense contract manufacturing experience preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in progressive leadership roles
  • Experience with FAR/DFAR requirement flow down, acknowledgement and accountability.
  • Global supply chain experience preferred including demonstrated leadership presence and influence over critical suppliers.
  • Experience in the application of Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools including Toyota Production System, Six Sigma and Lean a plus
  • Experience with supply chain management software (e.g., Infor LN, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
