Job Description:

Develop, implement and support effective programs, process objectives and methods to ensure strict compliance with all FAA Regulatory and customer requirements, and Industry Quality standards, including ISO/AS9100/AS9110.  Responsible for the ongoing sustainment and continuous improvement of the quality system and the achievement of top-level quality goals through executable system processes.  Ensures consistent quality of materials purchased, processed, manufactured and/or distributed by the company.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Establish, maintain and optimize an effective quality management systems (Part 21 Production and Part 145 Repair Station).
  • Drive continuous improvement in the quality systems.
  • Establish and drive a zero-defect quality culture.
  • Establish, maintain an effective internal audit and assessment process to validate system effectiveness.
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
  • Continually evaluate new approaches to quality assurance and product integrity to improve the company’s efforts.
  • Ensure the FAA/EASA certificates – Production Certificate and Repair Station 145 Certificate are supported with adequate procedures and resources to assure proper compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures compliance to AS9100/AS9110 and other company quality system certifications pursued.
  • Assesses product specifications of the company and its suppliers and compares with customer requirements.
  • Understands and disseminates customer requirements into tangible and executable processes.   
  • Work with company staff, customers and suppliers to understand and communicate MDHI quality requirements.
  • Solves complex technical and quality system problems.
  • Ensures continual performance of quality system within the company while effectively executing daily, near and long-term quality objectives.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This person will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Provides leadership to quality mangers and all other quality assurance/inspection personnel throughout the quality organization. 

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate strong leadership traits within a diverse environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of related regulatory regulations, quality system elements, their operation and interdependencies.
  • Ability to routinely manage and influence positive change across all disciplines on quality matters.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of company personnel and customer representatives.
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize workload across the quality department and company on quality matters.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  •  Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or University and 15 years (minimum) related experience in an aerospace manufacturing/repair or operations quality system; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Production Certificates/Repair Station 21/145 Certificate experience required.
  • Must have substantial experience at a manager to mid-manager level.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a quality department.
  • ISO/AS9100/AS9110 Experience required.
  • Previous experience in developing quality systems required.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable FAA regulations as well as previous experience interacting directly with the FAA required.
  • Quality system experience associated with US government contracting, DCMA oversight and interface.
  • Enterprise Process Mapping experience a plus.
  • EASA International Quality experience a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Power Point, Access and Project.
