Job Description:

The leader holds a crucial role in ensuring the airworthiness and safe operation of the VDCI fleet, ensuring aircraft are ready for dispatch on time, and coordinating maintenance support during mosquito abatement season to minimize aircraft downtime and delays to customer schedules. Active and thorough planning and communication are essential to success in this role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees all maintenance planning, scheduling, and completion of aircraft inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules for the VDCI fleet ensuring regulatory compliance and use of industry best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable FAA and/or EASA regulatory requirements (as applicable) and oversees all maintenance documentation, including logbooks, maintenance records, and work orders, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates continuously with Flight Operations to support mosquito abatement operations and establishes local maintenance support at remote locations to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable FAA Regulations including Parts 43, 65, 91, and 137 as well as company policies and procedures in all facets of the business.
  • Serves as the primary contact point for the FAA Certificate Holding District Office and coordinates all recurrent audits and inspections.
  • Provides regular fleet status reports to management and operations including maintenance status and deferrals. Includes developing 30-day, 90-day, and annual full maintenance forecasts and work scopes, obtaining shop quotes and schedules, and coordinating with the chief pilot to maximize aircraft availability and scheduling options.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Resource Management: Manage maintenance budgets, allocate resources effectively, and coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure the timely availability of parts and supplies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be computer literate and knowledgeable of the MS Office & Google suite of applications.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of aerial equipment maintenance practices, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate required, IA certification attainable within 4 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • The position requires coordination with Flight Operations to establish maintenance support at remote locations.
  • Travel required to support maintenance operations and ensure work scope compliance with contracted work scopes.

Education

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 

Experience

  •  Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
