Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Mech II to join our team. The successful candidate will have 2 years of related structural assembly experience and experience working with Solumina and Smarteam is preferred. The Structural Mech II will perform a variety of structural assembly operations in a production department following established operating procedures as part of a team-oriented work environment.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of related structural assembly experience

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  • Assembly and Fitting: Safely performs assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensures parts/assembly meet requirements. Safely performs sheetmetal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment, or fabricated items on aircraft.
  • Riveting: Rivets structural assemblies and parts using all tools required to do the job (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets). Must display the ability to remove fasteners without damaging structure.
  • Blueprint Reading: Reads work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type, size, and hole pattern for rivets, cut and form plastics, and follow standard operating procedures when using adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
  • Quality Control: Checks all work and ensures a defective-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Record Keeping: Maintains and uses all logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).
  • Assembly Alignment: Aligns and assembles parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners. Utilizes proper tooling, shapes, and forms complex angles and configurations according to blueprint specifications or written/verbal information.
  • Repairs and Rework: Makes repairs per Discrepant Material Tags (DMT), Material Review Request (MRR), Production Change Orders (PCO), performs necessary rework to ensure installations meet conformity.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintains a neat and orderly work area, supports the company 5S Program, and complies with all safety regulations. Uses personal protective equipment as required.
Additional Functions:
  • Waste Management: Properly collects and disposes of waste fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags.
  • Job Charging: Ensures accurate daily job charging to the aircraft.
  • Communication: Exchanges job-related information and coordinates work activities between shifts through turnover report meetings and direct contact with leadership.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
  • Lean Activities: Supports Lean Activities.
Other Requirements:
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills and basic shop math skills.
  • Scale Reading: Must be able to read a scale and perform basic shop math.
  • Document Comprehension: Reads and comprehends basic documents and instructions.
  • Personal Skills: Must have essential personal skills, which include an aptitude for hands-on craftwork, a professional attitude, attention to detail, ability to work with people, and to meet demanding schedules.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Composite Materials: Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
  • Shift Work: Must be able to work any shift.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to climb ladders/stands/stairs and work in small spaces or restricted areas and lift 50 pounds.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
