Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Structural Assembly Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have 6 years of related structural assembly experience, with a preference for experience working with Solumnia and Smarteam. The ideal candidate will have a Q-stamp certification and be able to work independently in a team-oriented environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Contribute to Employee Development: Use ability as a skilled specialist to contribute to the development of employees and techniques, and complete work in innovative and effective ways.
  • Perform Assembly and Fitting: Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensure parts/assembly meet requirements.
  • Use Schematics and Blueprints: Use complicated schematics/blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical instructions to safely perform layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment, or fabricated items on aircraft.
  • Adapt to New Tasks: Ability to move to new tasks with minimal, short-term impact to established goal hours and schedule.
  • Rivet Structural Assemblies: Rivet structural assemblies and parts using all tools required to do the job (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets).
  • Interpret Work Orders and Blueprints: Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type size for rivets, hole pattern for rivets, cut and form plastics, and follow standard operating procedures when using adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
  • Ensure Defect-Free Assembly: Check all work and ensure a defect-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Mentor and Train Team Members: Mentor, train, and assist other team members in interpretation of blueprints, drawings, and engineering orders; develop methods and shop aids to resolve production installation difficulties and problems.
  • Maintain Logs and Records: Maintain and use all logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).
  • Align and Assemble Parts: Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
  • Make Repairs: Make repairs per Discrepant Material Tags (DMT), Material Review Request (MRR), Production Change Orders (PCO), performs necessary rework to ensure installations meet conformity.
  • Plan and Organize Workloads: Plan and organize workloads and resource requirements to meet or exceed goal hours and schedule expectations.
  • Maintain a Safe and Organized Work Area: Maintain a neat and orderly work area, supports the company 5S, Lean Initiative Program, and complies with all safety regulations.
  • Support Lean Activities: Support Lean Activities, comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 6 years related structural assembly experience
  • Experience working with Solumnia and Smarteam preferred
  • Q-stamp certification preferred
  • Good working knowledge of computers and related software
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Skilled in close tolerance work and have knowledge of use of special tools and equipment
  • Ability to use mathematical formulas by solving dimensional problems using fractions, decimal fractions, and whole numbers
  • Thorough knowledge in the use of multiple measuring devices, demonstrated ability to use within specified tolerance
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders, stands, stairs, and work in small spaces and/or restricted areas
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7 to 8 years of relevant structures experience in sheet metal
  • 6 years of experience in Aviation required
