Parker Meggitt is a worldwide leader in multiple Commercial and Military Aerospace product lines, including Fire and Smoke Detection and Extinguishing systems, Bleed Air Overheat detection systems, Actuators, Rudder Pedal Assemblies, Pumps, Fuel Gauging Systems, High-Temperature cables, and more.
The Parker Meggitt Simi Valley Fire, Safety, and Power Division site is a fully integrated location with product responsibility from Marketing and Engineering through Supplier Management, Program Management, and Manufacturing, ending with delivery to customers.
Parker Meggitt – Simi Valley, CA, is also a key supplier in selecting energy spanets, including nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with the largest global aerospace companies, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Lockheed Martin, and many others.
JOB DESIGNATION:
The Quality Inspector II inspects a range of components, parts and/or products for the area assigned as prescribed by all applicable specifications and quality assurance Instructions. Identifies moderately difficult quality issues in design, process or other inefficiencies to meet quality requirements.
JOB CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials and components at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards
- Participates in analysis statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards
- Performs routine visual inspection of soldered connections, mechanical inspections of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
- Participates in preparing all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested items.
- Implements and maintains technical quality assurance procedures.
- Inspecting wires, sensors such as force sensors, pressure sensors, etc. using ring gauges, calipers, torque ranges, micrometers, and other tools
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
- Prepares and completes all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested items
- Identifies design, process or other inefficiencies and reports quality concerns and issues
- Performs routine quality inspections on engineering designs, assemblies, piece parts, final assemblies and tooling.
- Conducts Internal audits and corrective action follow ups
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations is preferred.
Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field
Years Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience
Skills:
- Ability to follow detailed job instructions.
- Able to apply a systematic Quality Assurance approach while using existing procedures to solve standard problems.
- Skilled at measuring and using test equipment as prescribed by job assignment.
- Capable of identifying and independently resolving routine issues.
- Experience with blueprints, drawings and parts lists.
- Familiar with the casting, forging, molding, stainless-steel and electronic components use in Aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, as well as Aero Space Standards like AS9100 use on aviation, space and defense organizations.
- Experience with all type of inspection tools like: Gauges, calipers, height gages, pin and block gages, V-blocks surface inspection tables, micrometers, and comparators
- Experience in performing internal audits based on established criteria and records the results.
- Experience with interpreting engineering drawings using the language of Geometrical
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Effective oral and written communication.
Nice to Have:
- Experience creating First Article Inspection Reports in compliance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements
- Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T) described in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 standards.
- Experience completing first articles (FAI) in accordance with the Aerospace Standards AS9102
- Bilingual; fluent in the English and Spanish preferred
WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position is subject to meeting US export compliance and/or US Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. U.S. Citizenship/Permanent residency is required for most positions.
Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, and location as well as spanet and business considerations. Pay Range: $22/hr - $28/hr
