Job Description:

Purpose

The Quality Assurance Auditor reports to the Manager of Quality Assurance and is responsible for quality assurance and documentation in accordance with FAA Part 145 and EASA Part 145 repair station requirements as well as customer GMM requirements. The Auditor will also participate in AS9110 and ISO 140001 Audit.  The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who will proactively improve the quality systems of the company through internal audits, participation in continuous improvement, and interaction with key partners to obtain constructive feedback. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Audits Quality Management Systems to ensure that the highest standards are met on all projects. 
  • Performs internal and external vendor audits.
  • Communicates audit schedule for internal / external audits.
  • Assists Manager Quality Assurance with creating process and documentation.
  • Generates, distributes, and files Corrective Action Reports.
  • Conducts follow-up audits of Corrective Action Plans.
  • Maintains list of approved vendors.
  • Determines that all technical data on all articles maintained or altered by the repair station are secured and kept current with the latest revisions. This data will include repair station’s process specification for limited rating specialized services, manufacturer’s maintenance and overhaul manuals, service bulletins, part specifications, FAA/EASA airworthiness directives, related FAA/EASA approved data, and other technical data used by the repair station.
  • Audits and maintains AS9110 quality system and approval. Administers the procedures for controlling and documenting the calibration of special tools and test equipment.
  • Makes revisions as necessary to the documents of the repair station including but not limited to the RSQM, Capabilities List, and the Personnel Roster.
  • Plan, conduct and assess activities that measure company performance against stated quality objectives, including internal audits and as a liaison with outside auditors.
  • Management of controlled documents used in the production process to ensure process and product integrity as well as to maintain continuous ISO registration.
  • Reconcile returns of products from customers to assess issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain AS9100/ISO quality control standards by verifying requirements established within the QMS.
  • Maintain and calibrate vendor management of the facility.
  • Review and evaluate in-process rejections, obtain disposition, evaluate root causes, and implement corrective action when needed.
  • Assist other departments as necessary in establishing standards relative to ensuring product quality.
  • Audit inspection records of work performed by internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and third parties.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED

To perform be successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The competencies listed below represent knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: 

  • 2 years minimum auditing experience.
  • 6+ years demonstrated experience in managing maintenance 145 and EASA Part 145.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively convey information accurately.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Quality process in a completion and aircraft maintenance/modifications environment.
  • Strong understanding in FAA and EASA Part 145 repair station operations/regulations required.

 

DESIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ experience in aviation environment with AS9100D standards.
  • ISO 9110 or 140001 Auditor Certification highly desirable.
  • FAA A&P License.
  • ASQ Certification and/or CASE approved auditor

 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position manages the Quality Assurance process but does not have any direct reports. 

 

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Manager of Quality Assurance. Works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Materials departments.

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an office environment, aircraft hangar, at the departure gate or on the aircraft parking ramp.
