Job Summary
The Director of Maintenance will support Gem Air flight operations by planning, tracking, organizing, and overseeing execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Gem Air's piston and turbo-prop aircraft to ensure safety and regulatory compliance in a part 135 environment, ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of equipment and facilities.
Our ideal candidate has proven experience leading a team of people, and proven experience with part 135 regulations. Must have IA or be ready to acquire it. Strong preference for candidates with significant experience with both piston and PT-6 engines. Strong preference for people with experience setting up or improving systems and processes. While this is a highly administrative position, you can also expect to actively participate in inspections and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure high-quality performance in aircraft and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain clear communication with your team about schedules, expectations, and performance.
- Maintain open, professional, and timely communication with operations and other management about maintenance needs and schedules.
- Oversee and maintain clear and accurate records as required by the company and all applicable regulations, including using digital systems to track maintenance activities.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure compliance with all company, FAA, and safety policies and regulations.
- Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and maintenance errors, and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the use and maintenance of calibrated tools.
- Oversee and ensure procurement and adequate supplies of needed parts in a timely manner.
- Participate in the troubleshooting, inspection, and maintenance of aircraft and supporting equipment as necessary.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff to improve the knowledge and efficiency of the team, to include mentoring and guiding apprentices.
Schedule: Salaried position, includes off-hour work. Normal schedule is Monday through Friday 8 months out of the year. Summer/busy season schedule is normally 5 days/week including at least one weekend day from June through September.
