Job Description:

The Flight Equipment, Aircraft Mechanic II may supervise lower skilled mechanics and assist with troubleshooting malfunctions in Aircraft Life Support Systems (ALSS) on the MV-22 aircraft. Performs preventative maintenance on assigned aircraft and ALSS assigned to the activity IAW required Maintenance Request Card (MRC) and approved directives. May perform special projects within the capabilities of the ALSS shop in accordance with the current Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP). This worker reads and interprets manufacturers manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

Services and inspects egress systems, ejection seat pan assembly, ejection seats or explosive system devices. Must be capable of rendering safe for maintenance any egress/explosive system devices which have been involved in mishaps and disposes of them in according to instructions. Performs all duties in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and Commander Naval Air Forces Instruction 4790.2B.

Perform services involving Class V Ammunition and Explosive (A&E) material handling IAW OPNAVINST 8023.24. ALSS maintenance can only be performed by personnel meeting the specific training and certification standards outlined in MCO 8023.3 Series.

Job duties require that this mechanic: adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, conducts maintenance inspections, and performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft. Assists with the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. Performs duties of Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) and ensures all maintenance is performed and inspected in accordance with the NAMP.

Experience: Minimum four (4) years of aviation maintenance and two (2) years of MV-22 specific aviation maintenance experience

Qualification:  Complete the appropriate formal "A" school, Aircrew Survival Equipment Man Common Core Class and the Aircrew Survival Equipment Man Intermediate Level Strand Class, at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (NATTC). This individual must possess personnel qualification and certification (QUAL/CERT) program IAW OPNAVINST 8023.24.  This individual must have held a USMC Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 6048 in MV-22 aircraft, specifically as a Flight Equipment Technician and have held a Level III certification in the Marine Aviation Training and Education Program (MATMEP).  Must be knowledgeable of ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2000 quality management systems requirements. Completion of Military Technical Training or comparable Civilian Trade School is desired. 

Must be able to receive and maintain Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) qualifications certification in accordance with the NAMP and must have previously qualified as Quality Assurance Safety Observer.

Must possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance, to perform all tasks outlined in the Interactive Electronic Maintenance Manual (IETM), and possess thorough understanding of NALCOMIS maintenance documentation.

Will acquire Support Equipment (SE) qualifications and certifications on the equipment identified in enclosure 1 of the SOW and IAW NAMP.

Certification:  Must meet technical proficiency to qualify as a CDQAR. Must be certified to perform tasks specified in Standard Operating Procedures Manual, if required to perform those tasks.
