Job Title: Fuel Cell Mechanic
Job Description
As a Fuel Cell Mechanic, you will be responsible for the removal, installation, and inspection of fuel cells/bladders and the assembly and installation of components such as fuel lines, hardware, and fittings on various aircraft. You will analyze aircraft sealing, structural, and assembly drawings to detect deficiencies, diagnose results of leak tests, and recommend corrective actions. Additionally, you will perform disassembly and teardown operations of aircraft fuel systems and related components, prepare cavities for installations, and conduct pressure tests and repairs as required.
Responsibilities
- Perform removal, installation, and inspection functions of fuel cells/bladders and components.
- Analyze aircraft sealing, structural, and assembly drawings to detect deficiencies.
- Diagnose results of leak tests and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform disassembly and teardown operations of aircraft fuel systems and components.
- Install fuel cells and components following specific procedures and techniques.
- Use pressure test equipment and make necessary repairs.
- Check the condition of fuel cells and internal fittings for damage.
- Work from operation sheets, diagrams, blueprints, and engineering orders.
- Maintain schedules and quality standards.
- Check work for completeness and accuracy.
- Notify supervision of any malfunctions, defects, and damages.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Perform assembly and disassembly operations in accordance with various directives.
- Conduct operational checks of aircraft fuel systems and components.
Essential Skills
- 2 to 4 years of experience in related duties.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as torque wrenches and gauges.
- Experience with hand and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to operate ground support equipment like hydraulic test carts and cranes.
- Experience in fuel/defuel operations, leak checking, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to remove and install equipment using blueprints.
- Skill in identifying and treating corrosion.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to document maintenance and repair actions clearly.
- Compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of shop mathematics and assembly methods.
- Ability to work from drawings, sketches, and sample parts.
- Experience in ordering parts, tools, and materials as needed.
- Capability to work on all shifts and in various weather and physical conditions.

Work Environment
The position offers a choice between 1st Shift (Monday to Friday, 5:30 am - 2:30 pm) and 2nd Shift (Monday to Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm), with optional overtime. Work takes place in an open-bay, non-climate controlled environment. Employees can expense $100 per year for steel-toed shoes. Flexibility to work any shift is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
