STS Technical Services is hiring a Parts Counter Person in La Porte, Texas. This role involves managing inventory records, receiving materials and parts into the facility, and dispensing them to other workers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and proficient in computer use, with a strong background in auto/truck parts management.

Summary

The Parts Counter Person is responsible for receiving materials and parts, maintaining inventory records, and dispensing parts and materials within the company. This role requires accurately transacting materials into the company database and recording parts when transferred to production areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain adequate levels of stocked items.
  • Manage warranty parts and interact with vendors, suppliers, mechanics, and other employees.
  • Order, receive, and mark new parts and equipment into the shop inventory stockroom according to the prearranged system. Restock bench stock parts.
  • Organize and manage receipt/storage/issue of parts shipped to the facility.
  • Issue parts and equipment to shop mechanics and service technicians per work orders for repair and maintenance.
  • Locate vendor sources for non-standard parts and use a shop truck to pick up parts.
  • Maintain a vendor file of sources for equipment utilized in maintenance and repair operations.
  • Code purchased non-inventory parts/supplies for the chart of accounts.
  • Prepare parts and/or equipment for transfer to other company locations to meet vehicle/equipment maintenance and repair schedules.
  • Prepare an inventory of parts in stock and accurately estimate the time needed to complete projects.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts of parts and equipment as required by management.
  • Comply with company/agency policy/procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment during the performance of job duties.
  • Work schedule subject to change depending on business demand.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail with paperwork and processing.
  • Computer literate.
  • Self-motivated with excellent phone skills.
  • Familiar with automotive nomenclature.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Ability to manage time, cost, and effort to ensure efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.

  • Provide excellent customer service.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of auto/truck parts experience; dealership experience preferred.
  • Familiar with warehouse inventory control.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to lift packages of up to 35 pounds.
