Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for an experienced Lead CNC Machinist / Set-Up on 1st Shift. Candidates should have extensive prior experience operating, programming, and setting-up Tsugami Swiss-style mutli-spindle CNC machines, or other similar type of CNC equipment, as well as Leading a Team of other Machinists.

This Leadership position will have a direct path for advancement opportunities at the Management level over the course of their career with us.

Schedule: Start time is 5:00 AM and the shift ends at 2:30 PM Monday - Friday

Overtime: Overtime opportunities are often available on Saturdays or before and after the usual weekday shift.

Primary Machining / Programming Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate assigned CNC machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications
  • Use calipers and various gages to ensure ensure part conformity
  • Program and Set-Up machines to the required parameters
  • Create/Modify CNC programs as needed
  • Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances
  • Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed
  • Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
  • Perform first article and buyoff
  • Perform setup operations which includes setting up fixtures and cutting tools
  • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools
  • Meet production demands as assigned
  • Run production on multiple machines at once
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
  • Complete other duties as assigned

    Primary Lead / Set-Up Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the Lead Machinist for the 1st shift Machining Team and be responsible for overseeing the work of other Machinists.
    • In partnership with the Department Manager, help drive daily results so that weekly production targets are achieved.
    • Support the development of the other Machinists through coaching/mentoring others, and troubleshooting issues that other Machinists are experiencing.
    • Step in for the Department Manager as needed, and provide regular feedback on the progress of the department to the Management Team.

    Required Skills:

    • Advanced experience operating Tsugami Swiss-style CNC equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
    • A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
    • Possess a strong comprehension of GD&T and blue print reading, understanding Lean Manufacturing concepts, and utilizing SFM (speeds and feeds) to manufacture complex alloys
    • Prior experience creating/modifying CNC programs

    Required Experience:

    • Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least five or more years prior to hire

    Level of Education:

    • High School diploma or GED is expected. Advanced education / certification level is preferred
