Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

As a Senior Financial Analyst at Ascent Aviation Services, you will be a key player in shaping financial strategy and improving processes. You will provide strategic financial planning, in-depth analysis, and process optimization, directly reporting to the CFO. Your role will be crucial in aligning financial operations with the company&39;s strategic goals and enhancing overall financial performance. This role supports organizational goals through:

  • Integrated Planning and Forecasting: Ensure the strategic plan is effectively measured and evaluated through comprehensive forecasting and budgeting.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate, maintain, and enhance management reporting to track progress and performance against financial and operational goals. Provide clear analyses on what happened, its implications, and recommended actions.
  • Financial Analysis: Deliver actionable insights using advanced financial models and data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Continual Improvement: Apply best practices to keep FP&A processes relevant amidst evolving business models, data management needs, and systems architecture.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Lead the preparation and execution of annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
    • Conduct monthly budget variance analyses, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to departmental heads to explain variances and recommend corrective actions.
    • Develop and manage comprehensive financial forecasting models to assess the impact of strategic plans and guide decision-making.
    • Prepare and present detailed financial reports and strategic recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial planning and analysis processes, ensuring they remain effective and relevant to changing business needs.
    • Implement best practices in data management, financial systems architecture, and team development to enhance FP&A effectiveness.
    • Manage and optimize key financial systems, including DataRails (for FP&A, budgeting, and financial reporting) and Trovata (for cash flow management).
    • Prepare the weekly Thirteen Week Cashflow report.
    • Conduct post-mortem financial analyses after significant projects or operational events to evaluate financial performance and provide strategic insights.
Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and analysis of large data sets.
    • Proficiency in Power BI and other data visualization tools for effective reporting and decision support.
    • Experience with financial planning systems such as DataRails and Trovata is preferred.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of financial accounting principles and reporting standards.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with senior management and various stakeholders.

Education/Training:

    • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.

Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant finance experience in a senior or lead role, with a proven track record in financial planning and analysis.
    • Experience in the aviation industry or a similar sector preferred.

 

Working Conditions:

    • Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Requires frequent walking, climbing, bending and reaching to shoulder level.  Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 10 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
    • Equipment Operated:  General office equipment such as personal computer.
    • Work Location: The primary work location will be the Finance Offices at the Marana facility, with occasionally the Tucson site.

 

 

 

SMS Requirements:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires aviation service providers to implement a Safety Management System (SMS) to identify and manage safety hazards. You may be required to participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance.
