Technical Support Engineer contributes to the analysis of fleet evidence and definition of technical recommendations for product disposition, develops means of product salvage or repair, verifies applicability of the current product to new functional parameters of the engine. The role is focused on mechanical analysis by solutions based on interpretation of the provided inputs, using sound engineering principles, respecting system functionality, and executed by standard functional practices and procedures.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support technical disposition for product in service and engine configuration changes to achieve minimum service disruptions, respecting product reliability and requirements, serviceability and business expectation.
  • Provide engineering substantiation for indications reported from service (on wing or repair shop inspections), prepare technical reports of substantiations
  • Support management of Customer Support queries, advice on interpretation of indications with reference to new make product quality and manufacturing process capabilities, but also with reference to serviceable limits of aircraft and engine manuals
  • Actively and openly report to Product Support Engineers and/or Technical Leaders any aspect potentially impacting safety, and opportunities for improvements and/or incorrections
  • Proactively work with System Engineers, Design Team and process owners ideas for cost reduction projects, process simplifications, product reconciliations.
  • Provide engineering assessments using engineering principles and/or FEM based methodology for needs of the following:
    • product modeling (mesh, BC’s and Loads application) of engine components – Ansys, Hyper Mesh
    • mechanical FEM analysis aimed to meet life and dynamic requirements – Ansys, Patran
    • post processing of analysis and results interpretation, reporting conclusions to Hardware Owners and/or Senior Engineers
    • stack-up analysis for specific geometrical features of individual components and/or module integration
    • comparative studies using current experience for particular and/or similar components
    • simplified engineering calculations based on physical & mechanical principia, engineering judgements
    • documenting technical data in reports and dedicated repositories

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering
  • Good English communication
  • Good knowledge of drawings interpretation and Global Dimensioning and Tolerances
  • Good knowledge and practice of MS Office (Excel, Power Point)
  • Self-motivation, open for new challenges and learning, team player

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with engineering FEM analysis and simulations – static, fractures, dynamic (Ansys, Nastran)
  • Fundamental knowledge of aviation engines, LPT and components, material application in aviation industry and materials durability
