The role: A member of a small specialist team with no direct reports. Indirect responsibility for delivery of department budgets with challenging cost reduction targets. Ability to work shifts and provide out of hours support as reasonably required. Provides technical expertise handling the safety, reliability, technical performance and cost of ownership of the BA fleet
What you’ll do: - Accountable for reviews, evaluation and approval of technical documentation that ensures the organisation operates in a safe, reliable and cost-efficient manner.
- Supports efficient technical decision making across the team and leads technical discussions across departments, using expertise and considering the business effects.
- Responsible for maintaining technical standards, policy and strategic direction including scoping the impact of, and influencing, future legislation.
- Develop and lead healthy OEM, MRO, internal customer & stakeholder relationships
- Maintains oversight of fleet reliability, monitoring fleet technical performance and developing improvement plans to ensure performance targets are achieved.
- Prioritising workload and taking appropriate action to maintain compliance with all appropriate company procedures, policies, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Reports, presents and communicates operational and business performance and significant events to senior stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
What you’ll bring to British Airways: - Problem solving, analytical & technical decision making

Your experience: - Ability to hold CAA / EASA approvals or BA company approvals (e.g. Part-21J Part-145 & Part-M) (Essential)
- HNC / HND or equivalent in an Aerospace Engineering or related subject (Essential)
- Recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience (Crucial)
- Degree in an Aerospace Engineering subject (Desirable)
- EASA pt66 Licence (Desirable)
- Knowledge of safety and quality management systems (Crucial)
- Knowledge of regulations including EASA Part M, Part 145 and Part 21. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of company processes and procedures applicable to the work environment & people (Desirable)
- Knowledge of at least one aircraft, engine, product type design, mechanical & electrical systems, structures, materials & supporting ground systems. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of maintenance programmes, technical reliability and condition monitoring tools and processes. (Crucial)
