Job Description:
The Staff Engineer, Aero Technology Lab demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment. Has the experience or expertise to solve complex problems. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing aerodynamic / aero-acoustic component test campaigns in support of all GE Aerospace engine programs, as well as development of advanced measurement techniques for unsteady flow fields, with moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Roles and Responsibilities

The GE Aerospace Aero Technology Labs are responsible for early TRL experimental evaluation of aerodynamic performance on turbomachinery components in support of all GE Aerospace engine programs, along with development of advanced aerodynamic measurement techniques.

In the role of Staff Engineer – Aero Technology Lab, you will be responsible to lead experimental component test evaluation efforts within the Aero Technology Lab and at partner organizations, measuring steady and unsteady aerodynamic performance of various turbomachinery components.

In addition, the Staff Engineer - Aero Technology Lab will:

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel / cross functional teams supporting the assigned project.
  • Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems.
  • Develop action plans with guidance to respond to issues / problems.
  • Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
  • Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirements.
  • Participate and present or review in technical and program reviews
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an Engineering position or PhD from an accredited university or college plus at least 4 years of experience in Engineering position.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • At least 3 additional years of experience in an Engineering position
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Be willing and capable of working in a physical testing environment at various locations (on-site and off-site)

  • Strong technical aptitude related to components and systems of increasing complexity

  • Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement
  • Demonstrated experience applying unsteady aerodynamic measurements on rotating turbomachinery applications
  • Working knowledge of aerothermal measurement techniques.
  • Experience with UG / Teamcenter or other solid modeling software
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and assembly procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
