Role Summary

The Staff Aerospace Engineer will work within the Acoustics and Installation Aero team to lead aerodynamic design, provide technical direction, and perform both isolated and installed analysis of inlets, nacelles, and exhaust systems, as well as related aerodynamic components. In this role you will coordinate with internal customers, airframers, global partners, and the broader installation aero team to lead aerodynamic test efforts and performance assessments of next-generation nacelle components and commercial aviation propulsion systems.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Staff Aerospace Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and execute aerodynamic analysis, design, test, and integration functions required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements
  • Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers
  • Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies including aerolines design, meshing, solver execution, post-processing, and interpretation of the CFD results
  • Provide strategic guidance to help develop and utilize in-house engineering tools to perform aerodynamic evaluations
  • Plan programs, lead projects, and execute test programs, achieving objectives within schedule and budget constraints with limited oversight from senior engineers
  • Document and communicate aero design, analysis, and test data results
  • Lead process improvement efforts, sharing lessons learned and best practice documentation
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Participate in invention disclosure efforts to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis in aerodynamics or fluids
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience

Desired Characteristics

  • 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Advanced Degree (MS/PhD) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in engine or aircraft aerodynamic design, assessment, CFD, and test support
  • Proficiency with CAD software, meshing, and CFD tools, particularly ANSYS CFX or Fluent
  • Demonstrated passion for the aviation industry
  • Highly motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Proven teaming and collaboration capability

The base pay range for this position is $121,500 - $202,600. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
