Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and development of submarine (VA Class, Columbia Class, and SSN(X)) acoustic systems.
  • Contribute to the technical success of our programs through hands-on technical contributions, leadership and management of an engineering team.
  • Advance the company technical vision, developing people as technical contributors, building the team, and fostering innovation.
  • Recent, relevant technical contribution to acoustic systems and shown the ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Perform technical activities which impact the proposal, system level design, detail design and manufacture of advanced electronics systems.
  • Oversee operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Review project status and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports.
  • Assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Lead development of strategic tasks or small projects by applying engineering and organizational knowledge and expertise to achieve technical goals and objectives.
  • Understand and interpret the technical, organizational and process aspects of the task assigned and can relate them to the technical needs of the overall large project.
  • Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering tasks or small projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
  • Actively uncover technical and organizational risks and ensures they are included in risk mitigation plans.
  • Participate in engineering development of program strategies and teaming strategies as they relate to the assigned task.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout the group and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Masters degree plus 6 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

  • excellent communicators, have a passion for technical progress and improvement, intellectually curious, and be strongly motivated to lead and nurture a cross functional team.
  • Strong ability to lead, mentor, and motivate experienced technical staff.
  • Ahead of technology trends with Research & Development (R&D) experience.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with demonstrated success leading design teams for complex projects.
  • Team player committed to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.
  • Motivated to drive innovation in design architectures, assembly, component selection, and electronics design.
  • Experienced in technical project and program management.
  • Effectively communicates technical and programmatic matters to senior level management, program offices, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Experience in analysis of complex acoustic and/or vibration applications and installations on submarines.
  • Has respect of peers and colleagues for technical and management credibility.
