Job Overview
The Senior Systems Engineer leads projects by developing system architectures, defining system and product requirements and methods for verifying compliance to those requirements, and creating new, cutting-edge solutions. This role will support direct customer interaction and development of unique customer requirements for the development of new solutions that address mission-level needs and work with the engineering teams to decompose them into system performance specifications for the design of new systems.
Essential Functions
- Lead the design and development of system architectures, including hardware, software, networks, and interfaces, to meet technical requirements and performance objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document system requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Coordinate and oversee the integration of system components, subsystems, and interfaces, including testing and validation activities to verify system functionality and performance.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies throughout the system development lifecycle, proactively addressing issues to ensure project success.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, project managers, leadership and stakeholders, to ensure successful delivery of integrated solutions
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure the reliability, robustness, and maintainability of system designs and implementations.
- Establish and maintain configuration management processes to control and track changes to system baselines, ensuring consistency and integrity across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system requirements specifications, design documents, test plans, and user manuals, in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in systems engineering, and actively contribute to the evolution of engineering methodologies and processes within the organization.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices, including requirements engineering, system architecture, integration and testing, and verification and validation.
- Proficiency in systems modeling and simulation tools (e.g., SysML, MATLAB/Simulink), requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama), and configuration management tools (e.g., Git, SVN).
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to effectively lead crossfunctional teams, manage stakeholders, and drive consensus in complex technical environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and solutions to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to fostering a culture of teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
Education / Certifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
- Masters degree preferred
Experience
- 10 years of experience in systems engineering, with a demonstrated track record of leading successful system development projects from concept to delivery.
- Experience with RF component design for ground and space-based applications.
