Quality Systems Engineer  (Full Time)

Piper Quality Management is in search of a Quality System Engineer to directly support the Piper Quality Policy of our Flight Path Forward.

Quality System Auditing and AS9100 auditing is a primary competency requirement. 

Essential Job Functions

•Aid in the definition, documentation, implementation, and continuous improvement of Piper’s Quality Management System

•Support compliance to the Quality Management System across all facets of the company

•Understand FAA and AS9100 Quality System requirements and support processes to ensure Piper’s compliance 

•Conduct internal audits and support Quality Audit Program development

•Maintain quality records and documentation in accordance with the quality manual and specific customer requirements. 

•Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, and test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports

•Collect and report to management on quality issues, compliance, trends and losses, as necessary

•Update and maintain material shelf-life information in ERP, as needed

•Performs internal product/process/systems audits and issues corrective actions as appropriate

•Assists in establishing, updating and communicating new and existing compliance policies and procedures for internal departments

•Must be able to work as a collaborative team member and in some cases lead a small team to resolve small scope issues

•Works from complicated drawings, handbooks, specifications, FARs, QM, engineering/tooling/rework orders, sketches, and written/verbal instructions

•Perform data analysis, investigate nonconformance root cause, perform stock sweep, and identify any action required and lead problem-solving initiatives. 

•Lead enforcement initiatives of all Piper Aircraft requirements to include, Process Specifications, Quality Procedures, Quality Instructions, and Standard Manufacturing Procedures. Initiate, follow up, and record corrective actions in company database.

•Support the Quality Inspectors and Manufacturing to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the Quality Management System and Engineering Type Design. 

•Evaluate Piper Process Specifications (PPS), engineering drawings, and other acceptance criteria to verify quality characteristics or functions. 

•Conduct audits of product or process, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.

•Work with other engineering groups as necessary (manufacturing, industrial, and process engineers) in order to implement corrective actions as necessary to prevent quality escapes and improve manufacturability of Piper Aircraft parts and assemblies. 

•Assist in FAA Principal Inspector Audits as necessary to support FAA regulatory oversight of Production. Other duties as assigned by Quality Management.

Education and Experience

 

         Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum 5 years of experience working in a technical, government regulated environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

         Must possess a working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Auditing.

 

       Must have working knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, familiarity with manufacturing systems, aviation products and inspection processes, proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting specifications to consistently make accurate type design determinations.

 

         Employee must be comfortable making decisions or recommendations relating to audits performed using his or her own discretion and independent judgment. Knowledge of AS/ISO standards preferred.

 

         FAA Part 21 Certified

 

         AS9100 Internal Auditor Certified

•     ASQ Internal Quality Auditor Certified
