Job Summary - The quality manager will oversee the department to ensure it is staffed appropriately and is capable of meeting production requirements as well as ensuring that the product meets customer requirements & specifications. This will include periodic management reviews with staff, budgetary processes, setting up training endeavors & requisitioning additional resources when needed. The manger will also be the primary quality contact, and will be responsible for handling customer issues (corrective actions, survey requests, auditing activities & all other requests) in a timely manner. In addition will be the management representative regarding implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100 requirements. This will include involvement in auditing processes by internal and external sources to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system, and taking appropriate actions when issues are found.  Support, and maintain quality systems and training, related to repairs and sales of aftermarket activity.  Act as liaison to the FAA.
 
Responsibilities – OEM.
  • Manage and support Quality System Engineers in support of ISO9000 and AS9100 activities including management reviews, audits, corrective action resolution, and training.
  • Manage team of Quality Engineers and Inspectors to ensure the product meets customer requirements.
  • Ensure inspection department is staffed and performing effectively and efficiently to meet production requirements.
  • Liaises with customers and suppliers to support overall customer satisfaction and product integrity.
  • Respond to all customer requests for corrective action, surveys, and other requests for information in a timely fashion.
  • Insure the creation and maintenance of a corrective action tracking system (internal and external) that records and tracks all internal and external requests for corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain a quality assurance system in compliance with customer, FAA, and other applicable requirements.  Perform audits as necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Perform contract reviews of quality requirements to ensure that client meets customer requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure Q.C. has the required resources to inspect the product and that customer requirements are being met.
  • Perform FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) activities.
Repair Station –
  • Coordinates activity and assignments of department.
  • Responsible to maintain the Quality Manual in accordance with FAA and Company guidelines.
  • Manage and guide repair technicians to conform to business needs.
  • Maintain and update Repairmen licenses and certificates.
  • Acts as Accountable Manager in the absence of the Director of Operations.
  • Selects and adapts procedures and instrumentation to the job as necessary.
  • Conducts failure analysis evaluation, root cause, corrective action investigation.
  • Knowledge of Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and Engineering work orders as issued by the customer.
  • Knowledge of FAA /JAA requirements for documentation.
  • Completes Quality Surveys and all other customer quality information as necessary.
  • Works closely with Production and Engineering to resolve quality or product issues.
  • Clear understanding of FAA airworthiness documentation.
  • Working knowledge of the FAR145 Code of Federal Regulations.
Other Primary Responsibilities –
  • Manages plans and directs Quality Systems activities to maintain compliance and certification to ISO9001, AS9100, Part 145 and NADCAP.
  • Actively participates in Lean and 6S activities.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned Management.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above
  • Understand and live by ethics and business conduct policies
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications –
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Quality Assurance or related field
  • Experience with test equipment (vom’s, oscilloscope, x-y plotter, frequency counter/conditioner, ohmmeter) or manual and welding equipment.
  • Ability to read technical blueprints, technical manuals, and component maintenance manuals.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced analysis skills and techniques.
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in Quality Assurance management/supervision in a manufacturing environment.
  • A&P License required.
  • Lead Auditor or auditor certification in AS9100 or ISO 9001
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PP)
Preferred Qualifications –
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Engineering (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor is preferred
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous FAR145 repair station or Part 21 experience preferred.
  • FAA DMIR certification preferred.
