Project Engineer I - Completions in GAC Dallas


Unique Skills:

Project Engineer I support for the Dallas Gulfstream Aerospace interior business jet outfitting location (to include new development). Fully responsible for planning and conducting important segments of engineering projects with extensive and diversified engineering requirements. Attend daily Production, Engineering, Supplier, and Quality Meetings. Communicate critical dates as they relate to project level activities for the Gulfstream product line. Provide oversight and follow-up on all current supplier activities to include the generation of company engineering memos (as they apply), and act as the focal point. Establish project work scope, task descriptions, budget estimates and manpower requirements including master scheduling that meets corporate objectives and commitments as they relate to new and existing development. Coordinate with engineering managers and personnel on scheduled deliverables such as drawing release, 3D data work flow, configurations, and reports. Work with aircraft certification resources (and engineers) to verify deliverables and plans can be built as designed in the required timeframe. Attend project and design review meetings to insure new configurations of build are viable. Work with the continuous improvement, cabin management, export, and quality teams to continue product integrity. Keep management informed of project accomplishments and major problem areas as well as budget and schedule status. Prepare presentations for customer advisory boards, and present information as needed. Provide project management review updates. Develop and issue engineering Standard Operating Procedures (as Assigned). Coordinate any aircraft export activity with affected teams, and how designs may be impacted. Must be team oriented and have a "can-do attitude. Must be able to work and resolve complex issues with technical groups to come up with the best solutions.

  • Working knowledge of Industry standards such as ASME Y14.5, MIL-T-31000 and MIL-STD-100 or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, CATIA V5, SmarTeam or other 3D PLM data systems, CHS/EWIS/EHI Methodology.
  • Excellent communication skills, the position requires direct interaction with designers, operations personnel, vendors and leadership.
  • Experience with cabin interiors/completions.

Must work with little supervision and be a willing team member that will perform work accurately combining sound experience with a common-sense approach. The qualified individual will adhere to aggressive schedules and budget requirements.


Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience 10 years engineering experience with a Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job. 2 years project management experience.

Position Purpose:

Creates and manages product plans for major aircraft programs that support the program milestones leading to certification and entry into service. In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates and directs a cross-functional team of engineering staff.

  2. Establishes project work scope, task descriptions, budget estimates and manpower requirements including master scheduling that meets corporate objectives and commitments.
  3. Determines practicality of the overall project in regard to function suitability, availability of manpower, equipment and materials, resources, cost, and producibility.
  4. Anticipates problems with assigned projects (technical, budget, schedule) and takes appropriate action to prevent their occurrence.
  5. Assigns tasks to functional personnel and provides the necessary project supervision to meet schedules and fulfill requirements.
  6. Keeps management informed of project accomplishments and major problem areas as well as budget and schedule status.
  7. Provides project management between engineering sections and all related activities including program management, other departments, vendors, consultants, and customers.
  8. Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments.
  9. Approves project related engineering data to assure compliance with corporate policies and FAA/military requirements as required.
  10. Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements.

  4. Must interface with other PEs and engineering management to ensure systems are compatible and designed with in common goals.
  5. Must provide leadership to direct staff to ensure proper methodology and decision making criteria are being utilized.
  6. Must express judgment and foresight to recognize when decisions should be elevated to senior management.
  7. Must be able to clearly and concisely present technical and team status to program and senior management leadership.
  8. Must be able to organize and facilitate technical supplier coordination meetings.
  9. Must be able to prepare status reports that accurately reflect status of project.
  10. Has budgetary responsibility for cross-functional team.
  11. Must prepare budget status report that can be submitted and presented in a clear manner to program and functional management.
