As a Principle Power Supply Design Engineer, you will support electronic control system development programs for aerospace products. You will be responsible for solving complex design challenges while becoming the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in various power supply designs and design processes in the electrical design discipline. You will be a key technical contributor in the design, development, and support of electronic control products within the Collins Aerospace Power & Controls product line. You will solve design challenges and may mentor a team of engineers working on projects ranging from new product development, production support, and field investigations. This role requires a strong designer with familiarity of Power Supply topologies design, analog/digital circuit design and analysis, complex logic devices, and hardware/software integration.
This is a hybrid role (combination of onsite and remote work) based in Windsor Locks, CT. Weekly onsite presence is required.
What You Will Do:
Solve complex design challenges and coaches, reviews, and delegates electrical design analysis and actions to lower-level engineers to meet project milestones
Work on projects ranging from new product development, existing product sustainment, production support, and field investigations
Perform development program design activities including design concept, part selection, circuit schematics, circuit analysis and design reviews
Support circuit printed wiring board (PWB) layout and routing
Design verification test activities including verification test plans and procedures, test readiness reviews, test execution in the lab, data review and test reports
Responsible for successful execution of unit level Electrical Power Qualification testing per RTCA/DO-160 or MIL-STD-704 methods
Responsible for successful execution of design, substantiation, certification, and qualification activities for Electronic Control products.
Communicate effectively in a cross-discipline work environment including design, project, program, executives - This can include influencing design and process execution in nonstandard programs
Contributes to program planning efforts with schedules and budgets
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
Experience in complex design solutions and troubleshooting
Working experience with power electronics, DC/DC & AC/DC converters, power semiconductors, circuit simulation & modeling and/or switched-mode power supply conversion topologies (i.e. Buck, Boost, Flyback etc.)
Working experience with Power Integrity analysis, and Spice Simulation tools
Working experience with electronic circuit design verification testing methodologies
Working experience executing Electrical Power Qualification testing per RTCA/DO-160 or MIL-STD-704 methods

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
