We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Engineer to join our System Integration team. In this role, you’ll take the lead on systems requirements, product specifications, and model-based development. You’ll drive cross-functional collaboration, define engineering requirements, and work on control systems modeling and dynamic analysis.

Youll be responsible for leading customer-facing meetings, gathering feedback, and ensuring design performance aligns with customer needs. Additionally, you’ll take ownership of the product lifecycle, including post-deployment analysis, while identifying opportunities for streamlining processes and improving system integration efficiency.

You will also have exposure to management by leading key projects, presenting updates to senior leadership, and contributing to strategic initiatives that align with Power & Control strategic goals.

What You Will Do

  • Define and decompose requirements for the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems of aircraft with minimal direction.

  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to establish specifications, perform evaluations, and plan performance testing.

  • Formulate the conceptual design of continuous and discrete control system requirements.

  • Develop lower-level requirements to meet customer needs and business goals, focusing on precise thermal management control and reliability.

  • Develop advanced mathematical models or use other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify designs based on customer engineering requirements.

  • Perform system-level analyses of thermal fluid systems.

  • Prepare technical reports outlining findings and recommendations.

  • Create and implement common procedures and standard work across the organization with minimal direction.

  • Investigate test results for consistency with performance predictions and ensure compliance with system requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 8 years of experience in the Aerospace, or Automotive industry.

  • Experience in stakeholder management and ensuring that all teams remain aligned to business objectives, while maintaining a customer-centric approach.

  • In-depth knowledge of requirements definition and decomposition.

  • Expertise in Model-Based Design engineering.

  • Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, DOORS, Python, Modelica, or SysML.

  • Proven experience in delivering presentations to management and customers.

  • Strong capability in task planning and project execution.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
